My daughter, 17, has been asking me for permission to have her hair coloured green for some time now. I made her wait to be sure if she’d still have the same wish after a few weeks. Sometimes she’s enthusiastic about something, only to stop liking it afterwards. Not with the green hair though, she still wants it. This weekend I permitted her to have it green then.
We went to the barber today and well, she’s going to have her hair coloured green this thursday already. We’re quite excited. She wants a dark colour. Does anyone have some suggestions and tips? Perhaps pictures of our fellow Pakistanis who also have/had green hair. It would be interesting for us to see how that looks, understand how it would feel.
My hair has some read colour left from a while ago. So that means, thursday my daughter will have green hair and I red, which means my son should have his hair coloured too. Maybe blue, we’d become the paint family or something. Just joking about that last one, please don’t mind that, I have a habbit of making jokes with humour of people of ‘my time’, according to my children.
Anyway, any pictures and tips about green hair are welcome, please.
Thank you for the pics, Mahool. We don't have any Pakistani with green hair? Surely some Pakistanis must have tried it. I'm not talking about celebrities, but any Pakistani, celebrity or not, or Indian people or perhaps someone from Bangladesh. I'd like to get an idea how dark green hair would look on someone like us.
Aw, same here, I wanted dark purple, I wasn’t even allowed red. Times are changing now slowly. Perhaps your daughter can colour her hair one day.
That is the first picture of of a Desi with green hair I ever saw. It looks lovely, it comes very close to the green my daughter is looking for. I’m sending her that page right now. Thank you so much!
Why didn’t I think of that before? What a great idea. Although I must say, I’ve seen a lot of pictures already, and haven’t noticed green haired Pakistanis yet. But I’m going to have another look, this time conscious for the colour green in hair.
Thank you. That looks nice too. My daughter has a short hair cut nowadays. She’s allowing it to grow a bit now, but not much, since that’s easier for her.
That’s nice too. Years ago I coloured my own hair dark blue, I didnt bleach it first, so you only noticed it in sunlight. Some colours are ageless, never old fashioned.
I personally feel something aquatic green looks gorgeous on dark hair, and probably will complement the desi skintone as well. Like a sea green almost, but I would probably do a dip dye of any green. Any other color otherwise ends up looking like a blond who spent too much time in a pool.
ok can’t link to the website, part of the address gets starred on the forum. google “fantasy hair tumblr” and a website will pop up with the name F**yeahfantasyhair. That is my go to website to check out all kinds of fantasy hair colors. You could also go to Manic Panic’s website, and they have a section where people have posted their hair color after dyeing, to get an idea of what a particular color will look like on hair that were dark/light etc before.
Edit: Just remembered this girl. She’s dyed her hair mostly shades of blue, but in this particular blog post it looks green. AT least on my screen it looks sorta green Fashionicide – "An oasis of colour in a sea of nudes"
I got red streaks put in a whole ago and just a tip, don't let her use white towels. I was staying in a hotel when I had my hair done, took a shower, wrapped my hair in the white hotel towels. Afterwards I realised my mistake. I literally had no clue the dye would rub off on the towel. God I felt so bad.
It reminds me of the first time I had dyed my hair red. I did it myself, and after washing my hair, I didn't realise how much colour was coming off my hair, my towell was dark coloured. But my pillows weren't. Next morning, they had my hair colour and even after putting them in the washing machine, the colour never came off. :(
ps you have to be the coolest mommy ever. Seriously.
Do it! Get dip dyed, and then put your hair into a bun. I got talked out of it a couple of summers ago. Still kicking myself for not going for it =(
Red dye is notorious for washing out. Even months after getting my hair dyed, the water would still be slightly red every time I washed my hair. Blue dye is slightly better I’ve heard.

Yes, that's true. I had coloured my hair dark blue at home, years ago. It did come off a bit, the first 2 days, after that nothing.
