Re: GREATS OF URDU POETRY:
MOMIN KHAN, MOMIN (1800-1852)
Momin was born in Delhi and spent all his life there. He was the son of reknowned hakeem, or physician at the imperial court.
Momin received a standard education, including training in Yunani or Greek medicine. He was a man of wide interests, including music as well as poetry, astrology and geomancy.
He was highly regarded as a writer of amulets, and generally considered one of the best chess players in Delhi.
He was a Ghazal and masnavi writer. Some of his Ghazals and masnavis are frank descriptions of his love affairs and feelings and are some of the best in Urdu.
His Ghazals treat all the traditional themes and show a highly sophisticated technique and a deliberate obscurity of meaning.
MY PICK OF MOMIN's VERSES;
WOH JO HUM MEIN..TUMM MEIN QARRAR THAAH..
