Islamabad, Oct. 31: Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari will visit Saudi Arabia next week to seek economic assistance from its ally, including help with oil payments, a government spokesman said on Friday.
Pakistan has been seeking assistance from its allies, including the United States and China, to help stabilise its ailing economy and avert a balance of payments crisis but it has secured little help. Diplomats say Pakistan’s allies want to see the government reach an agreement with the International Monetary Fund before coming forward with their own help.
Ghaddari going to sell Pakistan to Saudi Arabia. :)) lease Pasni to Saudi for 100 year, rich Arab sheiks can build their resorts and vacation home in Pasni. :))
As soon as the current government is finished with renaming roads, theatres and other places. They may then start governing and start concentrating on putting in place fiscal policies and plans.
Either speak English or Urdu, seems like you know none.
It like one black person saying Nigger to another black person but If I white person says nigger to a black person it's racism. Pakistani can call our leader beggars but anyone says it to us it's racism. :)
Re: Great Zardari to visit Saudi Arabia for monetary help
come Zardari, ok dont mover you money, why cant you lend your own money to Pakistan on good interest rate, you already how to make such investment companies hiding your identity, you will have secure interest and of your choice, plus scores that you personally arranged money for Pakistan in bad times.
Its hard to get money from others, when they know the president himself keep the cash away in offshore and swiss accounts. how would they be willing to trust and offer funds to Pakistan.
come Zardari, ok dont mover you money, why cant you lend your own money to Pakistan on good interest rate, ...!
Let's not trivialize this discussion. Pakistan needs $15-20 billions IN CASH right away. Zardari's total holdings including real estate, bonds, stocks etc. may not be 5% of this amount. Considering the low values of stocks and real estate these days both Zardari and Nawaz sharif have little overseas savings. Sure they may sound BIG if you convert their "paper value" in dollars into rupees, but their wealth is PUNY compared to the need of this hour.
The only way Pakistan can get out of this is to plan long term to earn dollars and Euros as a nation. Sure the expats send home money, but the Pakistanis in Pakistan must earn dollars by copying China, S. Korea and India. These Asian tigers serve the West day and night. And Pakistan has to do the same. There is no free lunch. No Saudi or Chinee can simply hand over the cash.
Go back and look at our history. Our economy was good when we whole heartedly served the West during Ayub (8 years), Zia (10 years), Nawaz (2 years), and then Musharraf's 6 years.
Right now we as a nation and not just our army must help out the West in Afghanistan and in the Middle East. Then only then the doors to dollars and Euros will open.
Think realistically that Pakistan needs $20 billion in next 1 year. But that is not the end. We'll need $20-50 billions every year after that. How do think Saudi or any other country can aid us even if they wanted to.
So chanda think about working hard, and working long hours for the coming decades if you want Pakistan to avoid the fate like Somalia or Afghanistan.
Re: Great Zardari to visit Saudi Arabia for monetary help
^ Come on now, you defending Zardari's assets and his recent shenanigans, just because hes become a bigger brown noser than Musharraf. Dont make me quote your blind appraisals for Jir-Dari, who by the way right before the elections you were so vehemently opposing.
Defending Zardari is one thing, and being realistic about the need of $15-20 billions for Pakistan is another.
The wildest estimates of Zardari’s wealth are $1.8 billion as per a 2007 survey. International financial climate has dramatically changed in the recent months, so these estimates could be way-off. The paragraph from (Richest People in Pakistan - 2007 - Friends Korner) is pasted below. You can see that most of Zardari’s wealth is in the form of real estate and may be some cash. The surray mansion was sold and money was given back to the Pak government.
So if anyone wants to “cash out” all of Zardari’s real estate assets in today’s market, they won’t get much out of it “in light of” our current need that is $15 billion minimum.
Asif Zardari dubbed “Mr 10%” an unknown happy-go-lucky son of a small-time businessman who struck gold by marrying one of the worlds most glamorous women Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benzair Bhutto. Taking advantage of his wife’s authority he is known to have taken kickbacks from many deals inside and outside of Pakistan. The most famous was a $4 billion deal to buy 32 Mirage jets from the French company Dassault. Documents, which include letters from Dassault executives, indicate an agreement was reached to pay a 5% “remuneration” - about $200m - to Marleton Business, a BVI company controlled by Zardari. Besides these many more kickback deals were taken with companies such as ARY Gold, Société Général de Surveillance (SGS), Cotecna, and ZPC Ursus, a Polish tractor company.
Zardari assets holding amount into hundreds of millions of dollars easily, Having 8 prime properties in the UK, of which once is the famous Rockwood Estate 365 acres in Surrey, worth £4.35m has now been sold and money sent back to the Govt. of Pakistan. Also 14 multi-million dollar mansions in the USA, including owning Holiday Inn hotel Houston, Texas Owned by “Mr 10%“ and Iqbal Memon and Sadar-ud-Din Hashwani.
They (Zardari and B.Bhutto) also have huge business ventures in the Middle East running into hundreds of millions if not billion mark. Mr Zardari also has huge stakes in sugar mills all over Pakistan, which include: Sakrand Sugar Mills, Nawabshah, Ansari Sugar Mills, Hyderabad, Mirza Sugar Mills, Badin, Pangrio Sugar Mills, Thatta and Bachani Sugar Mills, Sanghar.
Re: Great Zardari to visit Saudi Arabia for monetary help
Bringing in his $2 billion would be a good start, and then others can follow suit. However, I have observed, ever since he became a stooge and started to follow orders from his masters, hes beginning to get support from the same people who were lashing out at him when he was getting ready to take a piss on Musharraf.
Bringing in his $2 billion would be a good start, and then others can follow suit. ......
Good. pray tell how you are going to get the $2billions? And who are the others to follow suit and how much can you get from them.
How many of Zardaris properties can you realistically sell and who has the deed to such properties? Then how much money will you earn from such a sale?
Is there even an iota of pragmatism in this approach, or as usual emotional outbursts are the way to go????
Even if the real estate prices go back to where they were in 2007, and you get most of the money, then how long will it last?
you will be carrying the same begging bowl to IMF in 2010.
p.s. FYI Zardari was a bad choice for PPP leadership and especially terrible for the presidency. Because we the Pakistanis cannot make up our minds either. On one had we say he is corrupt, and then we went ahead and elected him as president. If ourselves say he is corrupt, then how can others trust him?
Do remember that now he is "legally" accepted the president, he deserves basic respect.
Re: Great Zardari to visit Saudi Arabia for monetary help
Zardari took a 220 strength delegation... Have they gone their to buy whole Saudi Arabia.. its like an army of delegates... What message are we trying to give to the world, that we are not poor and we dont need anything from wealthy nations. cause we can afford to take 220 strength delegation to Saudia...
does anyone know who is not included in the list..

Oh no you dont, dont even go there beta, because the reason why your Zardari is the president is because of all the pardons he got from the NRO. Dont even dare call the NRO and the absence of an independent judiciary democratic.

Its funny how this respect comes as soon as the western ball washing policy starts.

No one forced the people to vote for Zardari's party despite the NRO. They could have voted for any of the other parties.
The fact that they voted for the PPP despite Zardari's leadership of the party under the NRO only shows that they wanted Zardari.

People voted for the PPP, not Zardari. Zardari is a criminal who should be behind bars, end of story, no ifs and buts. Whats wrong is wrong, people need to grow balls and admit their favourite dictator paved way for the return of 'GREAT' Zardari through an illegal pardon.

Thats something Mush-tards say to give themselves a little bit of reassurance. When a dictator rapes the country's legal system, that is meant to prevent things like the NRO from coming into effect, you dont go out and start blaming the people. Like I said, you cannot even dare speak against the NRO, and you are trying to pin this on the people.
But its nice to see some fans of Musharraf jumping shifts and admiring 'GREAT' Zardari. Just shows their mentalities.
