^ In fact, it was great horror movie at that time but now its just a regular comedy movie for new generation.

It was never a great horror movie. I have seen it during a train journey in Pakistan and it was comical to say the least. In addition to bad acting, the special effects were like if they are put together by a 5-year old. We were laughing then, and I am quite sure, if someone sees it now they will still laugh at all the seemingly "horror" bits.

On to the main topic, I hardly see horror flicks. For me, movies are something to relax and have a fun time. Not to get scared out of your wits and come out of the theater like a zombie. I did see Murder Express, Exorcist and The Omen years ago, and they were ok.

One of the CREEPIEST movies I ever watched was The Others. It isn't your average horror flick as there aint a drop of blood seen on the screen. Some very atmospheric direction, the movie gradually build it's tension leading to a spectacular if seen-before-in-sixth-sense [another great movie] finale.

The Others has to be one of the best horror flicks. And whats more, it gives so much room for thought, debate [was the husband dead, alive or comatose?].

What say guppies?

The storyline of that movie was quite unique. i think it was based upon a novel by Clive Barker. Definitely not your typical movie plot.
i don’t know what i had with washrooms (maybe it was their mirrors) - i used to be scared of going into a washroom by myself after watching that. :o

ConfettiGuy, yep The Others was a great movie. :k:

i don’t think Halloween was mentioned yet in this thread. Anyone see Rosemary’s Baby - (although that was more freaky than horror). And a bit bizarre. Everyone already mentioned “Omen”.. that was a great one.

Scary Movie
Scary Movie 2
yup, that's it. These two r the greatest scary movies ever. :D

Besides that there is this Sultan Rahi movie in which he is an android who's only objective is to kill the selected few good guys. I must say that it was scary and late Rahi saab's face was probably one reason for it and also his body movements imitating a robot. The music was quite moving too and fit the atmosphere. And did you know what they called that terminator? Buzooka.:D yeah baby yeah. I forgot the name of the movie but babra shrief was in it too.

Yeah ......The Others....another gr8 horror movie...and even Sixth sense.
Both have a good surprise ending.

I think the husband was also dead in the movie ( the others). I wasn't clear when I saw the movie first time.....but next time I got it. He had died in war already.

chandbeti, I believe the husband was in this state between the living and the dead, probably in coma. He had been hurt badly in war.

Remember he sez 'I bleed sometimes' to the wife when they meet in the room. When he comes to know that the wife massacred the family, he goes back, probably back to the living state. You can see the disappointment on his face.

Theres a lot of controversy about this, but after watching the movie, its the best conclusion I could come to. A lot of other stuff too that justifies it but heck I dont remember it now :-|.

And Gawd, those photographs of the dead were creeeeeeepy.....Alejendaro Amenebar (The writer, director AND the musician of the Others) was in one of those pics himself!

Well I haven't seen too many scary movies, but there are some I really liked for example, The exorcist, The Ring, and thats about it.

There were other attempted horror flicks that I really liked were Others or Sixth Sense, though It wasn't scary for me but they were great movies.

After reading all the posts I really want to see Candyman, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Amityville Horror, they seem a little scary.

Has anyone seen House of 1000 Corps, I heard it was a remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, not sure though.

final destination

The Others wasn't really a true horror movie but it was a good film nonetheless.

The Others is a copy of The Haunted (with Aidan Quinn and Kate Beckinsale). You should check that out. I found The Haunted scarier than The Others.

Son of Andata sequal of Andata.

Jeepers Creepers — most creepiest and sick movie i ever watched :crying: the scenes haunted me for days
13 Ghosts — now thats the movie i really liked…i would say it was regular horror movie which had a good story line unlike other horror movies which end in such distaste

Well the 2 sequels were meant to be comedies “Evil Dead 2” and “Army of Darkness”. The first was supposed to be serious, and is the best one of the series. Although Army of Darkness was hillarious. :hehe:

The Others was a good movie, but I wouldn't really consider it a horror film either.

House of a Thousand Corpses was a cool movie, if you’re into cult horror. Very reminiscent of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” you’re right. Lots of gore, some jumpy scenes, very sadistic. Not for the masses though. I posted a short review of it not too long ago.

Hrmm, I wouldn't really consider this to be a horror movie.

Jeepers Creepers was a cool movie. Look for part 2 coming out this summer.

If I'm not mistaken, Poltergeist part 1 was a made for TV movie. It was an interesting film back then. Part 2 of the series is my favorite. That preacher Kane was spooky.

Some unmentioned movies I really like are;

Demons
Hellraiser
The Howling
American Warewolf In London
Basketcase
My Bloody Valentine
Grim Reaper
