Re: Grandparents who care for children 'boost obesity risk'
Bakwas. So now theyre going after granny's cooking. This is what happens when people conduct these 'studies' without considering a dozen social and economic factors. Eliminate TV for kids, ban McDonalds and its likes and mandate an hour of outdoor exercise everyday and you'll see how they'll go running for grandma's cooking.

Cheegum lots of controversy about this study.
From personal experience - my granparents were healthy eaters so enforced healthy eating habits.
But I don't know about own parents as grandparents. I think they want the grandkids to be happy and if happy means taking them out for pizza or mcdonalds or chucky cheese - then so be it.
I also think that MOST grandparents are not AWARE of what is healthy food and what is not.
Re: Grandparents who care for children 'boost obesity risk'
I don't agree, it depends on the mindset of the people who feed the children.
My daddi used to feed us what my mother cooked for us. My daddi has this thing about
only roti being a proper meal. She thinks a sandwich or pasta is a 'snack'. We NEVER ate out ever and we lived in the joint family system until I was 6. I didnt even have packed lunch for school, my daddi or mum would bring us home for lunch time and cook fresh roti.
Biscuits or sugary treats at Teatime only, between 16.00 - 18.00. Teatime is like an institution at my daddi's house. You cant have afternoon tea before 4pm or after 6pm. Its just not allowed.
No dessert with evening meal ever. Fruit if we were ever hungry.

She still is THE man! Bless her. I think food tasted better from her hand anyway, it always left an after taste of tibet whitening cream. I really miss my daddi now. :(

Milly that was our grandparents. (past generation)
What about YOUR parents as grandparents (this generation) - do you feel that they would have the emphasis on healthy food or are they time straved and fast food is an okay option for them?
Re: Grandparents who care for children 'boost obesity risk'
My parents don't have any grandchildren. My dad never eats take out either though and he too can only eat roti as a proper meal.
I don't think my mum would have gave my children (ha ha) unhealthy food either, we were never allowed Sunny D never mind fizzy drinks, and no sugar on wheatabix either! My mum was harsh.
I can already see my parents spoiling my daughter. Its not intentional its just the grand parent thingy. My dad can’t wait to take his little grand daughter to Mc Donalds and my mom is just so excited that she’ll be starting her solid intake next month , she cant wait to cook her nice yummy meals and she is just 3 months old :paci:
