OK, however stupid it might be, g.o.pakistan wants everyone's religion to be printed & coded in their passports - right?
why is that important?

yes Spock,
i think so far the foreign residents have the old ones and they are valid for them. the high commissions will be issuing them in future i guess.

Spock you should check with the Pakistani embassy/consulate. As far as I know, the old passports will become invalid documents but your visa should be transferred dont worry abt that.

So its just emotional, I agree with that. thats why I asked we may emotionaly want soon to have our Sect in it too. as sunni shia. etc etc.
though its emotional, but i think when something doesnt make sense or used, should nt be used. but there is not harm in it i agree. but I dont agree to make it too much of fuss at the same time.
why MMA dont use energies on something for material change for Pakistan.

Shakeel bhai the issue the MMA had was not with the issue of the religion column. You see this is just one part of the whole movement the govt is following. The secularisation of the syllabus was another move in the same direction. The liberalisation of PTV is another move in that direction.
These are all small steps that are being taken to overall secularise the country. THAT is what the MMA has problems with, otherwise just the religion column in the passport means nothing.
And ofcourse we have to protest at each little thing otherwise if we let every small thing go and then in the end we'll see a very different, more "secular" Pakistan and I don't think a lot of us in the country want that.

Actually Qadianis are living everywhere, and being such has never stopped them from performing Hajj! In fact, that raises the quetion, how would Pakistan stop Ahmadis from declaring they are Muslims? Unless there's some grand incusition going around, how in the world can you stop someone from claiming the are Muslim?

As for the secularistaion of the eduation, how can you mix the two? Why do you need to? Assume for a second that im a “good” Muslim like you, do I really need my Biology text book to remind me that this chapter was brought to me by the grace of Allah?? Its stupid, and pointless no?
Ptv is not showing people kissing, they arent having sex as they do on American tv’s. Whtever they show is reality (although questionably), why do you want to live your life in a bubble? The country is what it is, why are you so afraid of seeing it for what it is?
You see, the probelm is that the more you bend over for these people, the bolder they become, and the bolder they become the more intrusive they become, and the more intrusive they become, the more violent they become… Im not willing to be dictated to by some two bit goat, who doesnt know his a$$ from his turban. And im pretty damn sure no one else is either. Whether you like it or not, Pakistan is becoming secular, who the hell are the MMA stand in anyones way?
I might remind you, that people like Jinnah knew the dangers of such people, thatwhile Gandhi was courting such rabble, Jinnah tried to distance himself. Whether you agree with Jinnah or not, he knew what he was doing..

aray bhai....Pakistan nay theka liya hua hai to prevent ahmedis from going to makkah or madina? as someone pointed out what about those living in other countries.
what does this column really do, does having it there solve any problems in the country.

well yes.,..u r right fraudia....passport was a minor issue and MMA made it as.....
inspite of concentrating on main issues like increasing poverty,unemployment rate etc,we r fighting on such issues which have no importance..
also y our government excluded religious section from passport..it is also something silly...
