Its been a tactic of a Govt. desperately in need of legitimacy to first create a non-issue.. and see all Mullals go hue and cry, demonstrations - and finally allow creation of a religious column.. dictators always distract populace with these tactics so that they dont focus on real issues..
Nah…I am just pissed of “Islamic hypocrites” who have one set of standards for themselves in foreign country, and another for the poor brothers and sisters that they have left behind in a poor country like Pakistan.
Why you are comparing Pakistan with Egypt. Egypt is much worse than Pakistan when it comes to Islamic laws or Islamic values.
People live in Saudi Arabia don’t need a passport to perform hajj. So they don’t need a religin section in passport and besides how many Qadyaanis are living in Egypt or SA? The whole religion section in passport is due to qadyani issue.
how indian muslims perform haj ? they dont have religen stamped on the
passport. besides passport is to identify nationality . i never heard of immigration
in any aiport asking what religen you belong.
anyone going for hajj/ umra has visas and the embassy makes sure they are muslims, for those foreginers living in KSA who go to the holy cities they have their residence permits which clearly state their religions. all muslims have a green 'iqama' and nonmuslims 'orange' i think.
and well having the religion on the documents is just emotional. Pakistanis want it. why should it be removed? whats the need to make trouble by removing it anyway...good decision putting it back there.
As I mentioned, the religion section gives nothing other than a false sense of security about Qadiayanis since it is so easily bypassed. My parents live in Bahrain, where legally only Muslims can serve in the armed forces and where some officers are provided on loan by Pakistan.
They know of at least one such Pakistani officer in the Bahraini special forces who is in fact a Qadiayani. When asked how he was able to do so, his wife apparently explained that they just denied their beliefs to get their passports and ID cards so that his career would not be affected.
If some are willing to deny their beliefs for the sake of protecting their careers, imagine how many would be willing to deny their beliefs for the sake of travelling to Mecca and Medina.
While it’s true that no country has greater numbers of Qadiayanis than Pakistan, it is not true that having a religion section on the passport is an effective means of controlling their access to Mecca and Medina.
As I mentioned earlier, the only difference on the passport application between being considered a Muslim and a Qadiayani is a tick and a signature. And if one them them puts down the tick and signature, there is nothing further that can be done to prove that he/she is a Muslim or a Qadiayani.
when we are going to have a sect column in every ID ???
which nation required to know your relegion??? that you have to mention your faith?
I think they only want to know which country issued the passport!!!
useless work and protest by MMA and govt just want to pleases masses. so they can sit home relaxed. they should use efforts for real development of People of Pakistan instead of useless arguments.
being muslim is alhamdolillah a blessing. but I dont think it matter when it comes to a travel document!
yea If you have a common passport for all muslims of the world then it make sense to mention it.
my favourite teacher in school use to tell us, when enemy attacks, they will not say oh he is shia spare him, or he is sunni ok let it spare him. they will say, kill them all they are “muslay”
within Pakistan we have id cards that show our relegion. out of Pakistan, whoever we are shia, sunni, ahmadi, christian, hindu.
they will say all bunch of Pakis
!!!
what difference it will make ?? for People of Pakistan ? kindly state here!
it has it all, ocr, barcode, and also a smart chip that holds all finger prints info and data present in national Id card along with photograph stored.
the electronic data is encrypted and made write protected, cause it use write once method like ROM.
apparently its first implementaion of this kind in the world and state of the art.
aur han, the relegion column will just be stamped on present passport issued already, and will be printed on future ones. it was already stored in microchip as part of national Id info but wasnt printed on the Passport copy. but MMA ko kon smjaye, they believe only in hard copy stuff. “PRINTED”
:p
For those who are of the opinion that Ahmedis will use the Paki pp to enter Meccan and Medina, well folks you need to update your memory banks cause there are more Ahmedis living on Africa, Europe and North America than Pakistan. Question of granting acccess or refusing to Mecca and Medina should be exercised by the state responsible for admission i.e. state of Saudi Arabia as of today. Yet, Saudi Arabia does not require any passport holder arriving from any country to show his religion. So how do they determine whether the arrivee is a Muslim or not? Well, they have separate visas for Umra and Hajj and holders of these visas are restricted in their stay and destinations. Therefore, creating all this fuss back home was an exercise in futility and more of a political gimmick to score some brownie points against the government to which MMA is an ally in Baluchistan.
Religion column issue has nothing to do with the Ahmedis of Pakistan who too are citizens of this country and have the right to travel free of harrassment. Can they use our green passport and enter Mecca? Maybe yes, but when the Saudi Government issues their Hajj and Umra visa, dont they have the responsibility to stop any Ahmedi from entering the Holy sites by refusing issuance of visas?
MMA is a bunch of fat boys who have nothing constructive to offer. They have made there political careers on exploitation of religious differences, character assassination, defamation and bullying tactics. Now that they have NWFP tpo manage they are finding ways to divert peoples attention from the real issue i.e. of good Governance.
Having my religion stamped or printed on my pp really means nothing in the court of God who will determine our faith according to our deeds. May Allah forgive us for our sins and guide us in the right direction.
yes spock, i think from some date few months from now, all old passports will stand cancelled and travel will be allowed on new passports only. the passport offices are a scary place these days.
^^ i think at the moment these are issued at 5 places in Pakistan. I dont think the high commissions are still issuing old ones. it will be intorduced soon, then all with old ones have to change it to new one.
