Re: Govt provided faulty jammers: Benazir (26th Dec)
No doubt she was, unlike chooha leaders who just sit and give bayaans outside and say they are going to be assasinated the moment they step in foot in Pakistan.

Re: Govt provided faulty jammers: Benazir (26th Dec)
So what was the bullet proof car for if she was just going to stand on top of it and get killed in the end? Bravery is different from stupidity.
Re: Govt provided faulty jammers: Benazir (26th Dec)
Whatever, thats not what im ranting about. I am talking about people who helped kill her, and how they provided her with inadequate security. If you want to know why she stuck her head up, go ask her not me.
Do you know the people who helped kill her?
Re: Govt provided faulty jammers: Benazir (26th Dec)
What I want you to say is obvious. Admit the fact that atleast the Govt failed to provide her with the adequate security she needed. And I dont just think ti was al-CIAda that threatened her, she mentioned alot of times that it was the present establishment with the help of the intelligence that targetted her. Even one of her top critics, and former caretaker prime minister, Balak Sher Mizari said so today.
-- the govt failed to provide her with adequate security.
-- I suspect that that iwas Taleban and AQ who killed her
I hope that you can understand that riling people up against the 'Govt' of Pakistan in stead of 'Taleban' weakens the stability of Pakistan and creates chaos. If you don't like Musharraf, the peaceful political process will eventually get him out (as it was going to happen).

True, that is all that I want, the rest doesnt matter. What good is a government, when they despite all this talk about a potential attack give faulty equipment to the nations most popular leader for protection. It just shows they wanted her dead.

Very, very easy for you to say.
She had more courage in one finger than you have probably shown your whole life

The rest does matter if stability of Pakistan matters to you. It may not, if like many other people from our 'region' of the world, you let your anger against someone (Musharraf in this case) take over your better senses.
Re: Govt provided faulty jammers: Benazir (26th Dec)
Liaqat Bagh is where Prime Minister Liaqat Ali khan was assassinated by an Afghan Agent.....................paid with Fresh Currency he recieved from the US Embassy in Kabul.................:(

Stability will only come when a Government that worries more about torturing, detaining and assasinating lawyers, politicians, media people, ordinary civilians will resign. That joke of an emergency he imposed wasnt meant to prevent what happened today, it was just mean to get rid of an independent judiciary and media.

Thats quite a jump to such a bold and unsubstantiated conclusion. Fact is that a lot of things can go wrong at any given moment. It would be virtually impossible for the government to come up with an absolute fool proof security plan for anyone in the country, short of encircling her with a human shield in order to make sure that nothings happens to Bhutto. Faulty equipment is faulty equipment. If the implication is that such alleged faulty equipments lead to her assassination than I don't know what to say. According to my knowledge, the equipment in discussion were jammers (intended to jam remote signals?), which would have achieved nothing in this case.
I'm sorry but there is no topic to discuss here. The intention is quite clear. There is nothing that anyone can add since the topic is based on allegations (one of many allegations that are made against the government on the daily basis). I think we can all agree that it would be impossible for the authorities to address every criticism and allegations headed their way.
Re: Govt provided faulty jammers: Benazir (26th Dec)
It shows the intentions of the Government, why would you deliberately give faulty equipment to someone? So that they dont get the job done! Is it that hard to understand? Just let go of your love for dictatorship or the politician you support who is the dictator's love child, for a moment and then think about it.

The point is beyond the jammers.
The point is the govt did not provide security that was requested. Not hard to understand
Re: Govt provided faulty jammers: Benazir (26th Dec)
Musharaf is definently culpable.. Hope he can be the leader his supporters claim he is and step down from power...

Can you stop making one assumption after another? Even if you believe that the jammers were indeed faulty (which is an allegation) there is no way to know whether the government did it on purpose or not. A lot of equipment in various Pakistani military agencies are archaic and faulty. Does that hold any significance? No.
And if such jammers were really that important to her security, why did they even go ahead with the huge congregation all the same? If she truly believed that the government was deliberately doing one thing or another to hinder her security, why did she keep on trusting the very same government for the same purpose over and over again?
And your assumption that I support "dictatorship" or some individual who is the dictator's "love child" is truly absurd. No where have I stated my support for any political figure. If my objective stance on this seems biased against PPP than I guess I am biased against PPP.
I'm sorry but this topic is the classic case of the "grassy knoll" mentality that stems up after every significant assassination on earth.

I didn't know you knew my whole life. Courage is fine, but stupidity leads to the events we see now.

If you dont have an answer to the many experts and the late Benazir herself blaming the Government, then just be quiet. She is a political leader of the largest political party in Pakistan and its obvious taht she cant afford to stay out of her rallies for support. The Government just banked on this, and they knew how her popularity was a threat to their existence.

Leadership requires you to take risks... Have you ever haeard of a leader who didnt get in the middle of the fight?
Oh wait, Pir Altaf Hussain is still in self imposed exile in England in fear of his life!

If I don't have the answer to what? Lets not get overly pretentious here, shall we? Just because you're a die hard supporter of PPP (which happens to be the largest and arguably the best party in the country that has potential to turn Pakistan into one large utopia just like it did back in the 80's and mid 90's, correct?) holds no significance to me. Fact of the matter is that you don't know what you're talking about. One conspiracy theory after another by various "experts" is not called facts.
In addition, what cracks me up the most is the ease at which various opposition figure heads (and their supporters) forget how tumultuous and scandalous their own turn at the chair were. Their failure to see the irony of criticizing the current regime on issues such as judiciary, freedom of media, corruption etc are golden. Not that I don't expect anything else...they are opposition none the less. But the manner in which one person is antagonized to the nth degree and the other is portrayed as the biggest danger to Pakistan in the history gets extremely annoying after a while. Fact of the matter is that no politician is better than the other. To think other wise would be require selective amnesia. The failure of "democracy" (and governance in general) in Pakistan is a testament to that. To believe that all politicians are scum may not be the answer to the various problems that Pakistan is facing at the moment but riling up people against each other is adding to the already long-list of problems that are plaguing the country.

Just because you're a die hard supporter of PPP
How silly. Spock has posted dozens of posts against the PPP
