Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

You know I guess there should not be any legislation at this point.
I think problem is much deeper then we think.

Ppl who try to touch this thing need to be very careful. We don't have CIA, we can't manipulate things secretly.

They should just delay the execution of Asia for now. And try to work on this law very slowly.

I say media should change the mind set first.

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

its clear what pakistan thinks
its also clear what guppies think

very interesting clash

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

I say finally PPP got it self a real shaheed.

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

:k: excellent point.

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

exactly thats what has been bothering me too...i mean there were other ppl around too. ok yes if it was two shots it would have been ok but here its 27 shots (or 18 as i saw in the tv saying he got 18 shots) that too by just one single man.

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

**
he not only fired 27 bullets but also reloaded his magazine during the process and yet he wasn't shot...may be other guards were busy eating hamburgers. hehe**

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

An AK-47, as used in the assasination, has a maximum fire rate on full automatic setting of 400 bullets per minute, though this is limited by the fact that it has a 30 bullet magazine. 27 bullets would take just over 4 seconds to fire.

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

oh right right...that explains it...thanks

lol.....but on a serious note this all seems a conspiracy to me

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

I'm a little sympathetic to the other guards who didn't shoot him.

Upon hearing the gunfire, they would have had to assess the scene, seen the murderer shooting, validate that the bodyguard was not in fact shooting at another person who was the real assailant, deal with the shock of having a traitor in their midst, accept the reality that they must now shoot their own colleague and comrade, and then do so, all before he dropped his gun and put his hands up.

Of course, this is the same police unit that did such a terrible job of protecting the Sri Lankan cricket team that they may just be completely incompetent.

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

Religion is a Social Phenomenon, The real question that has to be answered is whether Religions or one specific Religion should be allowed special privileges like the Blashpemy law where it is not allowed to be analysed & critiqued like any other Ideology/Philosophy/Guideline/Way of life ? Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz as-Sudais can be a hatemongerer and call Christians "cross worshippers" which is not even critiqueing but a just an insult, yet when anyone analyses Islam using Islamic text they're murdered/persecuted or have a fatwa put on their head.

Pakistan is odd, Ahmediyyas who are generally peaceful are not allowed to call themselves Muslims, but Terror groups who carry out Violent atrocities are allowed to call themselves Muslim

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

**
nope, the report clearly says that he RELOADED the magazine. it took wayyyyyyyyy longer, may be a minute or two.**

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

Same here ehsan bhai. If he was wrong, than his murder is also wrong.

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

It takes seconds to reload the magazine. You push a tab to drop the old magazine, slot in the new one, and pull the bolt back to load a new round into the firing chamber - less than 5 seconds.

You could fire a total of 60 bullets (2 magazines of 30 bullets each) in less than 15 seconds, including changing the magazine.

Though I personally find the account that he changed the magazine to be odd. Given that he fired from very close range, and that the AK-47 has a 30 round magazine, how could a highly trained policeman have to reload in order to hit with 27 bullets?

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

“…Qadari told that he had already talked to his colleagues about his plan to kill the governor requesting them not to open fire at him when he would kill the governor.”

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

That doesn’t neccessrily mean that he talked to the other members of Salman Taseer’s security detail. This means that he told others within the Elite Force - the investigation needs to find out why they didn’t report him.

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

your statement sounds more like an accusation than a historical fact. do you mind substantiate your mudslinging with some references?

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

Just great!

Roses for Pakistan governor’s alleged killer

AFP – Pakistani governor assassinated in Islamabad

AP – Supporters of Pakistan People’s party mourn death of Punjab’s governor Salman Taseer who was shot dead …
By BABAR DOGAR, Associated Press – 7 mins ago

LAHORE, Pakistan – Lawyers showered the suspected killer of a prominent Pakistani governor with rose petals when he arrived at court Wednesday and an influential Muslim scholars group praised the assassination of the outspoken opponent of laws that order death for those who insult Islam.

Mumtaz Qadri, 26, made his first appearance in an Islamabad court where a judge remanded him in custody a day after he allegedly sprayed automatic gunfire at the back of Punjab province Gov. Salman Taseer while he was supposed to be protecting him as a bodyguard. A rowdy crowd slapped him on the back and kissed his cheek as he was escorted inside the court. The lawyers who tossed the rose petals were not involved in the case.

As he left the court, a crowd of about 200 sympathizers chanted slogans in his favor. The suspect stood at the back door of an armored police van with a flower necklace given to him by an admirer and repeatedly yelled “God is great.”

More than 500 clerics and scholars from the group Jamat Ahle Sunnat said no one should pray or express regret for the killing of the governor. The group representing Pakistan’s majority Barelvi sect, which follows a brand of Islam considered moderate, also issued a veiled threat to other opponents of the blasphemy laws.
“The supporter is as equally guilty as one who committed blasphemy,” the group warned in a statement, adding politicians, the media and others should learn “a lesson from the exemplary death.”

Jamat leader Maulana Shah Turabul Haq Qadri paid “glorious tribute to the murderer … for his courage, bravery and religious honor and integrity.”

Mumtaz Qadri told interrogators Tuesday that he shot the liberal Taseer multiple times because of the politician’s vocal opposition to the harsh blasphemy laws. Qadri is a name commonly adopted by devout men of the Barelvi sect.

Mumtaz Qadri is accused of pumping more than 20 rounds from his assault rifle into Taseer’s back in an Islamabad street on Tuesday. The commando, who had been assigned to protect his victim, has yet to be charged with a crime.

Questions have arisen about whether others were involved in the assassination and why Qadri was assigned to Taseer’s detail.

Faisal Raza Abdi, political adviser to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, said officials with the Punjab police told him that months ago the department had deemed Qadri a security risk because he had extremist views, and said he should not be assigned to protect high-profile figures.

Abdi said he was told that assessment was part of the investigation. He said the fact that Qadri was allowed to guard Taseer suggested others may have played a role in the killing.

“I do not think this is an individual act. It is a well-planned murder,” he told The Associated Press by phone.
A senior police official investigating the case said Qadri at one point said he had informed the other security guards about his plans, but that his statement may have been a ploy to weaken the case against him.

Another senior police official involved in the case said Qadri had claimed he was determined to stand by his confession that he was proud to kill a blasphemer. The official said Qadri had looked for a chance to kill the governor since joining his security squad on Tuesday morning, but did not get the opportunity at the presidential or senate buildings.

His chance came when the squad was called to escort Taseer from a restaurant on Tuesday afternoon, the official said. After the attack, Qadri threw his weapon down and put up his hands up when one of his colleagues aimed at him, pleading to be arrested alive, the official said.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the case.

In the northwest city of Peshawar, more than 40 students rallied for Qadri’s release. “All of us students are proud of him, of what Mumtaz did,” protester Faisal Khan said.

Couple of interesting bits in the article, the chicken is still “alleged” or “suspected”, why? Why are ‘lawyers’ showering him with roses in court of law?

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

Law minister’s speech.

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

He's still the alleged or suspected killer, because it has not been proven in a court of law yet. All we have to go on is witnesses and his confession, the guilt has not yet been established by a judge.

As for our lawyers.... well, nothing can be said shakes head sadly

Re: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer murdered in Islamabad

That trick won't work.

Do you not know the role of the Army in Pakistan?? Everyone else does.
