Few days back, heard this anchor in Capital TV’s morning show that different astronomers like Zanjani are advising Pakistan government to end gosht nagha on Mangal (Tuesday). As per them ‘jis din khoon (janwaron ka) na bahe, wo din insanon per bhari hota hai’. He was referring to Peshawer incident of last Tuesday.
I read that all the Marshal-Laws in Pakistan were imposed on Tuesday.
On other side, we hear from neighboring country ‘sab Kushal Mangal hai’. Mangal being a good day there.

musalmaan kia khaataa hai? gosht khaataa hai aur uske ba’d:
kushal mangal is not about the day mangalvaar. mangal = mars. mangalvaar is the day of mars. also, mars is seen as a bad astrological sign. mangalvaar is seen as a bad day among superstitious hindus too.
^ i thought Wednesday was considered 'bad' by superstitious Hindus and some Muslims. i remember we used to pick Wednesdays to travel as most trains ran quite empty due to these superstitions. not anymore thopugh...trains are always too full for folks who travel in general unreserved coaches.
a little off topic, but can someone explain whats the point of gosht ka nagha in Pakistan. in India it may be linked with majority religious belief but why in Pakistan?

and for that matter, nagha of Nai (Barbers)
there is no "No meat" day in India. we can buy meat 7 days a week and 365 days a year. there is no such concept there.

To the north is the famous Mohallah Qasaban, the place where the first Sikh onslaught before Maharajah Ranjit Singh took place on the pretext that they wanted to cut off the noses of all the butchers of Lahore as revenge for their terrible role in slaughtering thousands of innocent Sikhs as part of the Mughal campaign against them. Hundreds of Lahore butchers suffered in that bloody raid…
