Gori Ghoonghat ko mat khol ke Ghoonghat hai anmol

I am Totally aware of ladies dresses and outfits in my region. They have a free will to determine what they feel is better suited to them.

The bone of contention arises when a misconception is derived from religous scholars or books and it overrides culture without valid reason.

For example- Very common religious people condemn wearing dress pants and shirts, T-shirts etc for men, while praying. The only reason they offer : it is non-muslim’s way of dressing.

Q -So what is islamic dress
Ans - Shalwar Kameez

Now firstly No dress has any religious taq whatsoever. And shalwar kameez is worn by non-muslims i.e Sikh, hindus etc. Secondly, they have no religious grounds for such footings, because this is purely regional dress.

For Girls part -

Some of expat / born abroad religious girls loosely believe many women / girls in pakistan dress up casually and dont pay much attention to islamic principle of observing dress code. In their perception, it is only hijab which is a sanctioned , aproved dress code. Nothing else. So one religious girl comming to pakistan for marraige has strictly told organisers that she would wear that scarf (hijaab) instead of traditional wedding dress which includes ghoonghat.

Now, I have strong objection on the basis of this decision, which is quite offensive to my cultural and religious sensibility. I wont have any onbjection in dress choice if there was no mention of religion (Islam) in decision making process, and it was purely a fashion statement.
