how about our desi guys? do they rather go home and spend time with their wifey or do they also wish to hangout with their frens once or twice a week.

Hubby and I usually keep in touch with our friends on the phone as most of our old buddies are in other cities. I'm sure if they were around, we'd probably meet up once in a while... but we're both real homebirds, like to stay home and spend time with the family.

in our case yes, both mine and begums facebook lists are full of friends through the years, guys and girls both.

He has a couple of good pals now and he does go out with them a couple of times a month. Starbucks. Or meet up for lunch. But not really a whole lot. They aren't the types I guess.
I hate using my afternoons meeting friends... I rather spend time with my bachas and take them to the library or somewhere fun. Although a few times, I have picked up a friend and her kids and have gone out with everyone. But that's the extent of it. No movies shovies, women's parties..naaaaah, not me.
Evening time is family time at our home. Yes sometimes there are exceptions. But that's how we always were. Hasn't really changed because of marriage.
Hubby does have a few friends come over to our home, they have a blast chatting, khana peena etc... and usually the kids and I go out at that time or do something else.

I have a few old male friends. They're married now, with kids. Similarly, husband has some old lady friends. They are all spread out so we don't get to meet each other. Recently, we've caught up via Facebook.

But it is social life, real people we know in real life and meet up whenever we get a chance, not random nicks that we run into on some bulletin board.
point being, we have both moved cities and that is for the most part the only way we are connected to many of our freinds from single days, however when we are in cities where our old pals are we would go hang out with them, as a couple or solo.
we spent some time in my old town and then her old town and during that time we did hang out with our own friends when we got a chance.

Yesteday While I was at work and kids were at school my wife had lunch at Olive Gardens with her friends. We do invite friends or go to their homes for chit caht over a cup of chai and some samosay and pakoray.
Wife even goes out to movies , malls etc etc. I had a friend who moved to Pakistan last year we used to go watch movies , go to mall to look at and buy books . Many desi I know just will meet you for a dawat only and that too they want to be invited , they will not call and say I want to come over just to meet you. I do that a couple of times with some one but if they do not do the same then I stop doing that with them.

I think it is healthy for a marriage to have your OWN circle of friends.......people you can hang out with without your significant others maybe 2x a month (not asking for much i dont think). you shouldnt be joined at the hip 24/7.
There are different circles: one as a couple, one with your family, one with your friends (w/o hubby), one with his friends (w/o wife), and one with the couple and their friends (a couples night out or perhaps with the kids).
