Anyone tried it yet? Plain/simple and clutter free IM cleint. Just like it should be. Sound quality is def as well.

Google Talk is in beta and requires a Gmail username and password.

hmm a little amateur in design wise.. looks like they hired a highschool kid to work on GUI.. simple is good but this is not a good UI.. i am sure google will come up with better UI in upcoming versions..

I searched google talk on google and couldn't find the link of the 'Google Talk' messenger in the first ten search results! Strange!

I dont use Skype, never liked it. I prefer these IM clients and yes the sound quality is excellent.

The interface, especially titlebars, is very Mac-like. Replace the widgets and it almost blends right in with OS X:

Pathetic hai pathetic! UI is so poorly designed; its too simple to have any features; does lot without your consent ... list goes on
I wasn't expecting such a low quality stuff from google.
I must say voice chat quality was really elegant but again it uses connectionless UDP which has its on drawbacks. They are working on using SIP, lets see.
