Re: Google talk has been released

its so simple.. :smack:

did any one tried the voice with some one in Pakistan… how was it???

Re: Google talk has been released

I tried it within Ontario and I must say the results are superb. :k:

The quality is just as good as talking over the phone. There are no interruptions or other non-sense. I gotta try it out for Pak soon, insha’Allah.

Re: Google talk has been released

I'm not impressed by the voice quality. I spoke with my sis in London and she said she could hear me nice n' clear, but I couldn't hear her very well. And I used her hotmail addy to add her to my list and it works!!!

... don't really care much about the UI while its in beta stage.

Re: Google talk has been released

I tried it with a cousin in Pakistan and it didn't go too well. There were interruptions; at times the connection would be lost and I could hear a bit of echo. I guess it may only be good to communicate with individuals who have high speed internet.

Re: Google talk has been released

I agree that it will take over other messengers very soon

Re: Google talk has been released

It won't take over any messenger unless they totally revamp and fix it. Besides, it would take time, as Gmail still doesn't offer free signup to the world, barring the US, so many individuals would have to stick to MSN/Yahoo Messengers.

Besides, MSN messenger works fine. I don't see any need to switch over unless GoogleTalk/Messenger offers a feature that is not available on MSN/Yahoo Messengers.

Re: Google talk has been released

The talk of taking over other messengers is very pre-mature.

Google talk is okay. Interface is kinda disappointing. yes voice quality is not bad AT ALL. much better than msn and yahoo's.

Re: Google talk has been released

people don’t switch only if the new product has some new feature. They also switch cause they don’t like the current product. We do not need yet another AOL, or yahoo or MSN, Its simple interface is what google is ALL about.
If people want bloated clients Yahoo and MSN r perfect, stick with them.

plus gooole Talk integrates very well with Google Desktop v2.0](http://desktop.google.com/)

Re: Google talk has been released

So I heard this little gas of a story at work yesterday:

In July/August this year, MCI approached Google with a proposal. The idea was that Google would develop an IM client software for them using MCI's VOIP technologies. The product would then be stamped and marketed with MCI's name to bring in digital subscribers and stuff. So Google’s CEO flew over for an hour-long meeting. After the meeting was over, the only thing this guy said was, “Hmm…this is an interesting idea”. Two weeks later, Google Talk was released.

Anyone else hear this? I can’t find any real sources.

Re: Google talk has been released

Sounds BS to me.
VOIP isn’t something new, that google had to steal it from MCI,
Google Talk doesn’t have VOIP, it only has PC-PC conversations. This fact alone makes this rumor a nonsense. In other words, you aren’t going to be using Google Talk to place calls from one telephone to another or from a computer to a telephone. There are plans to federate Google Talk with alternative Voice over IP services EarthLink and SIPphone.

Re: Google talk has been released

yeh it won’t get famous amongst the girls untill they throw in those “sho’ cute” n’ “adorable” smileys and winks, and not to forget those [cheap] cute Dil walay backgrounds …
