I dont like this musical chair game that PCB is playing. What is the assurance that Inzi will keep his captaincy for long term too? I dont like the look of how the things are shaping up with Pakistan cricket. Politics is playing a heavy role in all this.
What do you guys say about this change of fortunes? (assuming this news is authentic and Rashid is a gonner)
well!!! you are absolutely right..this sounds really weird if it is really gonna happen.....but as we all have listened earlier that Rashid was captain for 1 year to groom the new players...anyway if this bull**** is real then Inzi is not the best choice as he has not that much time left & also he is not very impressive with this job....what u guys think about Younas Khan.?....he looks like a good captain(his behaviour in th field)...he is my choice for future captain.
It won't happen, only because Kamran Akmal has'nt looked good as teh Wicketkeeper. I would'nt disagree with tossing Rashid in principal just casue I don't see him as a good batsman. If he goes then you gotta bring back Moin Khan.

I agree with you man. PCB has gone insane or what............Rashid was promised a term until the end of this year.........this is just crazy........why Inzi? I thought it going to be some youngster who can lead us into WC 2007?.........I hope this news aint true. Fingers crossed.
I dont know how true this is but objectivley thinking the captaincy should be taken away from him after he was convicted of cheating. I dont think Inzimam is the perfect replacement, not only Inzi just got back in the team and cemented his place by the classic hundred but also becasue Inzimam is just not the captaincy material IMO. Though due to seniority he deserves a chance and so far he has done ok in the Bangladesh series so I think he should get a chance agasint South Africa too.
I have said that in the other post about Rashid Latif too, if PCB is serious about following their decisions Rashid is history or to the least Rashid can forget about being the captain. As Ramiz said PCB is trying to introduce a new culture in the team and it doesnt make sense to presist with Rashid after his conviction.
Why not after all he is from Karachi, If not other he is punishable for this crime!
Looks like another victim of Lahore-Karachi Politics in PCB. Now Inzimam should have guts to not take over the captaincy if he remembers what he said at the end of Test series.
"Rashid should not be captain once punished for cheating" rule can disqualify most of the senior cricketers. Just a lame excuse to axe best available captain and WK
If this turns out to be true, then, at this point, Inzi is the only logical choice. He can continue till as long as he is in the team. We have discussed this a number of times in this forum. Of all the promising youngesters, AR, YK, YY etc... there is no one, who has any worthwhile leadership experience at the national level. The best way is for them to groom a suitable person, in the role of Vice Captain. Once Inzi hangs up his boots, the Vice Captain takes over. Thats how it should be. The mere fact that Inzi may not last till 2007 should not be the sole deciding factor. We shouldn't design our cricket team around world cups, alone. There should be a natural progression up the ladder.
I havent find a word about Rashid’s dismissal on the News and Dawn. Maybe its gonna pop up later. But I have been surprised by what people have ben saying in this thread. Pakistan has generally done well under him and he is a highly respected person within the team and the rest of the cricket circles.
And whats all the whining abt his batting and stuff. He’s averaging around 26 runs in ODI this season, almost a full 7 runs over his career average. Inzamam’s average this season is around 20! And thats precisly the mistake the slectors comitted by dropping him off not just for 1 or 2 tournament but for 6 months. I just hope they dont do it again, and anywayz his keeping is still top notch (Havent seen it, just heard from people). I havent seen Inzi as captain, but if they r keeping him because we r 3-0 up in this series, then well any captain could have done that, be it inzi or youhana or rashid himself.
Bottomline is Rashid’s the best guy we have right now to captain this Pakistani side. I just hope he continues to captain this side for another yr atleast.
IUH is the cpatain then. I like your abbreviations F. This could be the begining of something interesting :)
Actually I agree with Faisal. If this is true we shouldnt look for another captain right away, or we are going to end up again with the same mess of 6-7 ex captains playing in the same team. Even in this world cup we had Waqar as captain and Wasim, Rashid, Inzimam and Rashid as ex captains. We should stick with Inzi unless he performs horribly bad and groom someone under him.

The fact PCB didn't protest the banishment strongly. This was to be expected.

In my view, It has nothing to do with appealing the ban and everything to do with inside politics and lack of proper expertise and professionalism within our cricket setup.
You can't expect a person, who has just been appointed "interim" captain (as Inzi was after Rashid ban), who has himself barely made it back to the national team, to take a stand against inclusion of a new bowler in the team.
Well, you can expect, but only if that captain's first name starts with I and last name is Khan. No one else. The rest are barely hanging on to their captaincy cap by a thread, themselves.

The player selection should always be upto the captain and the coach himself.
The selection committee's job is to pick players from the domestic circuit but captain and coach should always decide the starting 11.
