If you talk to someone responsible in Chaklala, you will get the inside story. The strategy was to split TTP into the Indian sponsored main organization and other regional hard liners who were not against the state of Pakistan but against policy on war on terror. As talks began this year, the TTP did split and weakened, fights broke out within, that resulted in desperate attack on Karachi airport to show their strength. The rift in ranks lead to killing of mastermind Adnan, as ground intellegence got a chance to penetrate into the organization that helped finding whereabouts of top leadership. Fazalullah and his cronies are tracked all the way to Kunar, Afghanistan. Prior to January this year, the main problem was lack of intellegence as many informers and locals were beheaded by TTP monsters. I believe military played it very sensible and now going after one target to another with solid information and results. You will hear more success stories in coming months, as a trench is dug along Balochistan/Afghan border and the jammers are placed so the only option to carry out any attack is either use Int’l line from Afghanistan or let remaining scattered terrorists to do small attacks and get destroyed. The main communication network that was operated from Miran Shah is no more.

IK was not acting alone, but establishment had its own plan for the talks and it worked. Now, come winter, we would know how effective is the blockade on Afghan border to prevent any further reorganization of TTP inside Pakistan.
