thats not the first time men are setting rules for women in the western world. theyve been doing it throughout history. surprisingly they are clever enough to word it so that women think theyre getting the better end of the deal.
theres more strip clubs than churches. yeah, respect for women my a$$.
another standard set by men: in a region where more than half the country is freezing cold, the work dress of choice for women is a knee length skirt, which allows for that cooool subzero wind to freeze your butto*ks and legs. whereas men get away with warm pants. why dont men wear shorts to work?? now thats a lot of freedom for women right there.
why in the 50+ presidents of the usa, why not has there been a woman (white or black) or black man yet? thats racism AND gender discrimination in one neat lil package.

Interestingly majority of marriages in that era survived and we can still see those old couples living happily in the west even today.. few days back I attended 50th marriage anniversary of one of those couples..

Degas, but maybe one of the partners got shortchanged while at it and most likely it was the woman.
Today women wouldn't stand for it.. but then they go overboard sometimes and rigidity never helps, hence so many broken unions.
It's a relationship of compromises and adjustments... no one's willing to make any these days.
A few years ago, I saw a TV program that showed this same magazine clipping and pointed out that it was a complete fake. There was never even a magazine called housekeeping monthly.
And as far as all you america-bashers out there, I ask you to please show me another country that offers more opportunity and equality to people of any race (or gender). You're petty jealosy is clearly apparent.

True, but in reality, what is written in that ad never happened. That garbage was written but I have yet to met a woman of that generation that really went by it. My parent's got married in 1955 and they were happily married until my father passed away 3 years ago, and my mother was the total opposite of that ad!!!
Not to mention if you did the things that ad talk about the marriage might survive, but would you?

I am American, so hardly jealous. In the United States women have an illusion of equality. I am afraid that equality for women is still several generations down the road.
We are told we can work if we want to. If there was true equility we would be expected to work as much as men are. True pride in yourself only comes through the ability to at least take care of your own personal needs. Not to mention that women are taught from a young age to find a good "man" to take care of them. I have three daughters and I have never told them anything like that. I have taught each of them, that they should get good educations so they can take care of themselves. I hardly want them at the mercy of their husbands's. In the real world equality is gained only through independence, and true independence is only gained through being able to support yourself.
Women are still expected to put their children ahead of their jobs, while men on the other hand still have the right to put thier jobs first. If a child has a special need, 99.99 of 100 times, the wife is the one that is expected to give up her job, to stay at home and care for the child.
The explosion of the so called "adult" industry says that males still think women are here to serve male needs. Even regular tv uses women as cheap promotional tools.
Not to mention the way the fashion industry has gone. I do not think women are more liberated because they are exposing more of their body. All it really does, is give males, that already have weird ideas, even weirder ones.
Women have gotten a few positions of power in government and industry, but the percentages are small. Also when are we going to have a woman as president? If we are the land of equal opportunity why is it we are behind some, so called third world countries in this area? Not to mention the fact that some companies only hire women because they are forced to, by law.
Or perhaps you feel women are now liberated because of the so called "sexual revolution" and their right to murder their unborn children. Sorry, but I don't see throwing morals out the window, as being liberating.
Show you another country that gives women more equality? As much as I hate to admit it, that country would be Israel. I have met people from that country, and it sounds like they treat both sexes the same. A perfect example is that both sexes are required to do military service. In the United States during times of draft, only males are drafted. I am sure there are any number of reasons that are given for this, but the real truth is women just aren't thought of as being good enough.
So the article being real is of no importance. Probably isn't as I don't think even American women have ever been that much of a door mat.
