kabba is sacred symbol every muslim prays towards and make annnual pilgrimage and do circambulation 7 times anti-clockwise.
People do not worship the Kabbah, it is a symbol where people can focus their spiritual energy, it is different to saying that the Kabbah is our god.

learn to read between lines PA....
we've got the hadith too, but u have only Quran, so read it with wisdom....

First of all, I would say that I just cannot stand non-Muslims jumping into everything and giving opinions on our religious teachings. No Way!!!

Yes, non-Muslims are welcome on this forum, and they can contribute in some threads that are general and not pertaining to specific Islamic rules. So I request you with great respect not to post messages just for the sake of posting messages and have fun.

If you want to learn about Islam, then just read for the time being and don't pass comments. There surely is a difference between a Muslim and a non-Muslim talking about Islam.

Praise be to Allaah and Salam and Blessings on His Messenger :saw:

Allaah has favoured this ummah over other nations in many matters, chief among which is enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“You (true believers in Islamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah) are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma‘roof (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained) and forbid Al‑Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden), and you believe in Allaah”

[Aal ‘Imraan 3:110]

Staying in the pub even though you are not drinking alcohol is still a sin in itself, because Allaah has commanded us not to sit in places where evil is committed, otherwise what befalls those who are committing the evil action will also befall us.

Allaah says in the Holy Quran:
**
“And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Qur’aan) that when you hear the Verses of Allaah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them”

[al-Nisa’ 4:140]

“And when you (Muhammad) see those who engage in a false conversation about Our Verses (of the Qur’aan) by mocking at them, stay away from them till they turn to another topic. And if Shaytaan (Satan) causes you to forget, then after the remembrance sit not you in the company of those people who are the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers)”

[al-An’aam 6:68] **

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) :saw: said:** no hurt can come to you from those who are in error”

[al-Maa’idah 5:105] **

Following right guidance means doing all the obligatory duties. If a Muslim does his duty of enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, as well as other duties, the misguidance of those who are misguided will never harm him. This may be done sometimes with the heart, sometimes with the tongue, and sometimes with the hand. Denunciation with the heart is obligatory in every situation, because no harm can result from it, and whoever does not do that is not a Muslim, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “And that is the weakest of faith.”

Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 28/127

Moreover the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade sitting at a table where wine is being drunk.

It was narrated that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: **The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a table where wine is being drunk.” **

Narrated by Ahmad, 126; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 7/6.

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

**“And whosoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).
And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allaah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allaah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allaah has set a measure for all things”

[al-Talaaq 65:2-3] **

So give up these evil things, and those trips and sitting with those people. Seek the reward for that with your Lord. If this leads to your leaving your job, then you will have a great reward with Allaah and you will find goodness, a way out and provision by His Leave.

And Allaah knows best.**

The prophet mohammed said..
*"Every intoxicant is khamr and every khamr is haraam"..[muslim]
but i dont understand one thing...cigarettes are not intoxicating, then why are they haram.
second, Yari-Eh asked a good question and i dont think i found the answer...is it okay to go to places like pool halls and play pool without drinking or not?
b/cuz i go play pool but dont drink, but ppl i go wid, they drink...is this wrong??

Prophet :saw: said:
Shall I tell you a thing by which you can attain good in this world and the Akhirah? Remember, it is the company of those who remember and glorify Allah day and night. (Mishkat)

It is not permitted to sit in the company of those people such as in a pub even if they were good mannered, except for the purpose of calling them to Allah (dawah), or to refute their lies and disapprove of their sinful behavior. As for those who sit in their company and are pleased with them, or keep silent in front of their sinful talks, Allah says concerning them: “But if you are pleased with them, certainly Allah is not pleased with the people who disobey.” [9:96].

So here we must examine, why do we want to be in the pub in the first place? Aren’t there many other places we can go to spend time and enjoy ourselves? Why a pub?

If we go to such a place then surely we would be recognized by others as a person who sits in a bad company. More than others, we care If Allah likes it or not.

If our aim is Dawah, then it is a different thing. Even then, there are better places to do dawah, as the people who are in a pub , do not stay there all the time.

It is just that by being in such places, we might be lured by the Satan into it. Surely the surroundings do have an impact on a person. I personally think that by going to such places we are in a way supporting them.

wine is used as symbol in religen

The holy Sacrifice of the Mass is celebrated as a memorial of our redemption from the slavery of evil effected by Christ’s death on the cross. The bread and wine are changed into the body and blood of Christ at the Consecration in the Mass. We celebrate mass to honor and glorify God; To thank Him for all the graces bestowed on the whole world; To satisfy God’s justice for the sins of men; To obtain all graces and blessings.

The Mass is divided into 3 main parts, The Offertory, at which the priests offers to God the bread and wine to be changed at the Consecration; The Consecration, at which the substance of the bread and wine are changed into the substance of Christ’s body and blood; The Communion, at which the priest receives the Holy Eucharist under the appearance of both bread and wine.

The first benefit is bestowed on the priest who says the Mass; The second on the person for whom the Mass is said, or for the intention for which it is said; The third on those who are present at the Mass, and particularly on those who serve it, and The fourth on all the faithful who are in communion with the Church.**

thanks for your response, but this leaves me wid more questions than answers.
i’ve grown up here and have refrained from all things like alcohol, drugs, cigarettes etc, everything my friends always did, even muslims that i know, did these things, but i was still able to refrain from them…so i dont think my going into a pool hall to play pool wid friends is going to lure me into drinking alcohol or smoking…i have more will power and faith than that!
second, growing up in the states, how can one not have friends that do things that are not permitted in Islam…i dont do those things, and do make an attempt to prohibit my friends from doing them…but its their life, their decision ultimately…should i not talk to or hang out wid these ppl, who otherwise are great, except they like to drink and their religion allows them to…
i dont know…i’m confused and getting more and more confused by the day!..but thanks for your help

There is nothing wrong in hanging out with them as long as it is not going agianst our religious values. I also live in the U.S. and have many American friends who drink. Even then I do meet them and pass time with them, but not when they drink. I refrain from going to the pubs with them and they do understand and respect this. I am quite fine with this because I myself feel very uncomfortable going to such places. I am not a weak person who would drink by being in such an atmosphere, but its because I just do not want to be in a wrong place.

^ you know people who drink make fun of uptight people who claim religious superiority when they drink whether it is coffee or a beer. Vaisey, goo to know you have sold ou and moved to America.

Thanks Islamabad for your respons...it helps!
