what pakistan gained not having pub it has produced drug addicts.
this holier than you attitude is just a myth.
quran is followed literally some think drugs are ok since word "drug"
dont appear.

what a compromise....anyhow, I was thinking more along the lines that if one leaves the masjid he is seen as a namazi, if one leaves the pub he is seen as drinker. Since, masjid is where u pray and pub is where u drink..Also correct me if i am wrong but this spreads fitna? Also those u move with are those who u will be raised with on the day of judgement.

theres no hollier than thou attitude here, if we dont share our knowledge or our concerns with our fellow muslims, qiyamat pay we will be also stand as a witness.

if u re read the hadith.....if u read it in the first place, the hadith states where wine is being served....now how can whine be served??
[/QUOTE]

Serve can mean 'to prepare and offer'

I've been around those who have offered me their complaints about the world and their life.

Do not sit at a table where complaints are offered.

here u are referring to drugs, but for alcohol, the Prophet (saw) said that we should avoid as medicatiion even because there is more harm in it than good.

"clearly says haraam"??? where Degas pai jaan??

Nothing I suppose.

We should take into account that Jesus is dead, and according to Islam, if he was alive he would be a muslim, and not drink anyway. I doubt this senario applies to the average Ali or Abdul.

Pakistani abroad.
The prophet mohammed said..
"Every intoxicant is khamr and every khamr is haraam"..[muslim]

^ no, it's more like "scholars agree someone said, the prophet muhammad said ....... "

but i was more interested in understanding this statement by Degas:

"Quran clearly says any substance that results in intoxication is haram and cannot be used"

That must include tea/coffee - people do get addicted to it :)

Not to mention gupshup!

Pakistani abroad, I have looked long and hard for this, I hope you appreciate it.

"O you who believe!
Truely, intoxicants and gambling,
(dedication of) stones and (divination by) arrows
are an abomination of Satans handiwork:
avoid such abomination in order that you may prosper.
Satans plan is to sow enmity and hatred among you
with intoxicants and gambling,
and to hinder you from the rememberance of Allah
and from salah (obligatory prayer)
Will you not then abstain?"

[Al-Qur-an, chapter 5, verses 90-91]

Hehe :)
