going to the pub

dont drink, jus go to the pub and meet friends, play pool, kill time. Whats wrong with that?

Nothing.

yup.. don't inhale..

I don't know about going to the pub just to play pool but I know we are not allowed to sit at the same table where people are drinking alcoholic beverages because of this Hadith:

“Whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a table where wine is being served.” The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)

Does that mean one would decline an invitation to sit with Jesus if He were drinking wine?

yes

If that's the case you may want to re-think your blind belief in these hadiths. Jesus Christ was the most perfect and only sinless man to ever walk the earth, and He's not good enough to sit at your table?

^ second most. Buddha was the epitome of perfection. And he would have shared the table with Jesus. Wine and all.

first of all i dont believe hadiths blindly..second we dont think our Prophet (pbuh) drank alcohol..and it might be ur belief that He was the only one

God forbid!! Christ (peace and blessings be upon him) would never do something after it has been made forbidden by his Lord Allah the Exalted.

Semoline, your assertion of Jesus drinking vine is as authentic as the Hadiths.

I guess that depends on your belief of the validity of the bible vs the validity of hadiths being the word and law of God.

Exactly :-)

Not going to argue with that.

The same can be said for any scripture. Who the hell knows who wrote it. It is faith as semi said. As long as you believe mah brothers! :flower1:

I don't care who wrote it or where it came from, I don't think any scripture (especially ones that claims Judeo-Christian roots) should be interpreted that we shun Jesus. I would likewise sit at a table with Muhammed even if his sword were dripping blood, in spite of my belief that killing is sinful.

I think whine somehow got switched to wine over time by mistake. What the Hadith truly means is don't sit at a table with those who whine about life after all that Allah has given them. Surly that is more offensive to Allah than throwing back a few and proclaiming the love you have for your life, family, and friends.

I agree. He wouldn't do something forbidden by God.

and btw muslims are more colser to Jesus then christians themselves

Islam contradicts many of Jesus' teachings according to Christian scripture. But I agree that many "Christians" are Christians in name only.
