I dont know what happens at such events. But i’ll suggest you to speak to your mom and ask her that “if i like some girl from that event should I approach her myself or is it appropriate that you talk to her or her parents?.” Of course if she says “yes you can approach her yourself and talk to her to find out what she is like in person and then if you are satisfied with that then the rishta can go ahead”. You also asked what you should wear. i think a business suit would be good. i would also go for a nice shalwar kameez. infact if i was you i would have gone for a black shalwar kameez. good luck
