Im visiting lahore in 2 weeks and am shopping for myself & my sisters for my elder sisters wedding here in the uk.. Seeing as im on a tight schedule as im only there for 2 weeks.
I am looking for some fancy done up wedding outfits for my sisters wedding just wondered where is the best place to go for this and what price range am i looking at? I have heard stories how pakistan has become really expensive..
So if anyone know of any shops in lahore that do done up clothes for about 5,000 - 10,000 rupees or less please let me know.. along with the shop names & prices..
Try the boutique's at M.M. Alam Road and Fortress Stadium. I'm sure you'll be able to find something beautiful there!
M.M. Alam road has a couple of designer boutiques where the prices are higher (I'd say 10.000+ Rs for the formal wear)
Fortress Stadium boutiques carry nice stuff (you'll have to look around though) for a lower pricerange (5000+ Rs).
Maria B, has some nice outfits in that range.. Lajwanti may be able to make sumthing within that budget :) Fortress and Liberty have all the nice shops!
you can get good stuff from chinyere on main boulevard gulberg and DHA. and if you have time, you can always get them made from liberty dupatta gali or anarkali.

Maria B and Lajwanti have NOTHING semi formal or formal in this price range. I've heard even if I tell them that this is my price range, they'd probably shut me out of their shops :D

Chinyere's dresses look good only in the pictures. I had my aunt send me an offwhite outfit from them last year but the quality of fabric was noticeably cheaper than what I expected for 12000 rs (and I'm not very good at determining fabric qualities!). They offer alteration for free though (thats the only thing I liked)
This year my cousin had the same design copied for her friend's wedding and she got it made in 8500 rs and hers fabric and work quality was lot better than my original chinyere one!
Fortress boutiques are a good option if you are not looking for a very great quality clothes. They charge less but they deliver cheaper quality (which is only fair I think). There is this one boutiqe in fortress stadium called maysoom. Ive got some of their semi formal stuff for 5000 -7000 rs. Good bargain I would say
i know that abt chinyere. but it is still a good option for those who are short of time. I went to chinyere yesterday to see a dress and i was amazed how good the ugly finishing and fabric looks in pictures!
i would recommend "Think Pink" and "Zardozi" in Liberty, Lahore. Some of my relatives have gotten ready made semi-formals in the Rs.8000-10,000 range from there (after bargaining) of course. the more you buy, the better the price you get. the overall quality of fabric and kaam is usually good there.
IA, you will. share pics of your finds with us when you get back
there’s another huge shop called “Saleem Fabrics” close to Zardozi. their prices are fixed but sometimes they have certain fabric on sale.be sure to inspect all pieces of the fabric as it turns out to be damaged at times…at least, that’s what i’ve heard. i have a couple of very nice formal outfits from them in the price range you’re looking at but they were on sale at that time so i got lucky i guess. i’ve also heard that they offer tailoring services.
Dawn77 I hope I come back with some nice outfits! I will definitly share them, im looking for done up salwaar kameez for myself for my sisters wedding dont want to wear a lengha lets hope I find something nice.. I love bareeze outfits especially their chiffno however its a little plain to wear for the actual wedding day..
im so excited lahore here I come..........thanks for ur help x
If u go to Liberty Market you are looking at 12,000 plus for formal kaam outfits, I paid 18,000 for my sisters - haggled from 25,000. If you want outfits less then 10,000 u have to go to Anarkali. Maria B semi formals are 18,000 plus, heavier outfits are 25,000 plus. Lajawanti is waaaaaay expensive than indicated above, I mean they have lenghas starting a 3 lakhs! Saleem Fabrcs and Zardosi, again you are looking at 15,000 plus. I went to Pak in Dec 2007, and I can only say that the prices must have gone up again.
p.s if you want a couple of the same design then this will go to order, which will not be done in two weeks. Normally they only have one or two in stock.
Lajwanti has formals that begin from 5k.. and so does Maria B.. they might not be really heavy or embellished crazy.. but I've seen some really pretty and subtle stuff at maria b's..
Silsila thank you for your information gosh didnt really pakistan was that expensive, & ive never really been good at bargaining.... It almost seems pointless going there now but its to late tickets booked & paid for! guess im just going to have to go & see what I come away with.. Im going to just get a few suits that are gorgeous as opposed to loads..
Hi Shazzy, please post pics asap as I plan to go to Pakistan Lahore inshallah this year and want to know where to shop, im not good at haggling either so look forward to hearing from you on how well you were able to bargain there...please give names of boutiques aswell, thanx hun...
you can order your outfits at anarkali or liberty and ask your family/friends to pick the order and parcel you when it is done. I can help doing that too :) you dont have to be 'sacred' of prices.you can get good prices as well.depends on going to the right places plus your choice of kaam. Best of luck. happy shopping :)
i think ur best option is to select n print pix of any design u want.keep those pix in ur purse all time. b4 u go arrange for someone a friend,a cousin or may b some friend from GS that can take u to the right shops n workmanship. As soon as u go there go to liberty market n buy fabric of ur choice.u can then giv it to kaam wala right there in liberty n also pick a tailor in same market that the kaam wala can pass on the dress to.this way u save time n energy n get wat u like instead of looking around to find the best. Also always buy all the material urself of ur choice i.e the fabric, the slip, the lace, fancy buttons, zipper etc so the tailor don't waste ur time.one more thing giv the tailor a shirt of ur right measurement otherwise they might do some mistakes n u'll hav to keep visiting them.Always tell them that u r short on time n going out of country to ur relatives but never tell them the right date.instead the date a week or two earlier.
