I cant help out in terms of visiting places, i think others had great ideas on those but please dont waste your time in the malls if you arent going to buy anything or arent the mall-ghooming type. We did that because we didnt know where else to go and i regret wasting the precious time we had in Dubai by roaming around the mall (cant remember the name, it had a lot of brand name stores).
I just got back from Atlantis, The Palm Jumeira and I MUST say it's out-of-this-world! I've been to all the resorts in Las Vegas, but this is beyond everything! So it's a MUST visit..
I am not sure why people find malls entertaining, but is there anything else to do in Dubai besides the malls. I liked malls when I was in High school, I don't 'hang out at the mall" anymore for fun :)
I also thought luxury goods were on average more expensive in Dubai, i.e. if you live in the UK or US or Europe you are better off buying those goods at home. Further I thought discount western brands like H and M even GAP Zara type brand were MORE expensive in Dubai. If you eat halal though it is a great place to get all the meat you have been missing. EVERYTHING is halal, a little strange when a lot of the places that sell halal food also sell a bunch of alchohol. but yea the food is halal from the Mc Donals to the High end restaurants at big hotels.
Al-Muna at madinat jumeira, Azure @ Raffles... YES all are halal..u don't have to worry! Um.. I don't like malls so go to madinat jumeira, atlantis, al-qasr... bastakiya..al-boom tourist village.. and get on the big bus tour!

if you're staying for more than 3 nights, get one of the serviced appartments/studios on rent, your wife and yourself would be much comfortable and the prices are not as high as compared to hotels. you can easily get one for 4 nights or week.

How long before could I book the apartment? i think they will not be willing to book it fairly advance; after all they are looking for tenents rather than weekly renters. Other thing is the rent, you are suggesting that it would be cheaper than a hotel??
Dear Guppies especially from Dubai, need help. I will be visiting with my wife to Dubai right after Hajj for a week. Need information about places to visit, budget places to stay and other activities. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Dear Friend.....there are umpteenth hotels, apartments, B&Bs in Dubai with various packages and generally meeting the budget one essentially keeps when visiting such places.
The best you can do is browse certain websites of Dubai hotels like DESERT ROSE and FOUR POINTS-Sheraton....which, in terms of their location, are most sought after---because TAXI travel or even a car commuting with someone in Dubai is---hell break loose on traffic jams and of course the kitty as far as fares are concerned.
I may also suggest you KAZI ICONIC HOTEL & APARTMENTS located in Barsha...right next to THE MALL OF EMIRATES (the most reckoned shopping centre--which too has a hotel within its complex).
You can also search for the facebook groupn of the said hotel and get further details. If you need a reasonable discount...you can further the matter by letting me know...I may be able to assist you...as the hotel belongs to my nephew (younger sister's son).
I have stayed in this hotel several times..will soon again..and so far I found it worth a 5-Star by all counts on a price highly reasonable!
Salhu, where r u based? We also wanted to go there on our way back from hajj, but the agent said the flights r gonna b chocka block to and from dubai in hajj season and just after. So we decided to go after a few months later inshallah.
Right, definitely go the Madinat Jumeirah, it has a really nice atmosphere, u can walk around, browse the little shops (namooneh!) and eat outside amongst lots of other happy tourists and locals.
I'm not really into shopping malls myself (seen one, seen them all!) but if u r from a country that doesnt have many then im sure u will love them.
Creekside is good for a walk around. Go for a little ride on the tak tak boats that cross from one side to the other, there is a spice souk on the other side.
Make sure u sample all the different varieties of food there too, as much of it is halal.
People r friendly, im sure u will have a great time.
I am from Toronto, they had to book my flight from Abu Dhabi back to Toronto, well in advance. It is generally known that air traffic near hajj and christmas time is on peak and very difficult to manage the seats in the flights.
