Well for me I used to talk to him a lot and you know take interest in his stuff. I watched anime (I hated anime with a passion back then) that he recommended but gave him hell for making me watch it lol. Asked about his personal life, you know asking if he was in a relationship etc. I was/still pretty charming back then and after a month he asked me out and we're in the process of getting married. :)
Problems you faced to marry love of your life!

Re: Going through hoops to get married
^So watching Anime was your "hoop"? I don't think that counts, missy! It's more like problems convincing the family or some other hassle which caused possible problems between you getting engaged/married/being together etc. :)

I'm Japanese and Australian
There was no connection till our mutual friend introduced me to him. I didn't even know where Pakistan was or Islam.
and nice that you love everything Japanese.. >_>
I'm not that patriotic tbh
the only thing I like here is shopping and the food oh and public transport.
but the guys are too girly for me to consider them attractive.
Re: Going through hoops to get married
I so wanted all this drama but when I asked my mom she said I could marry anyone I want. Infact she said I must search on my own. Life is soooo boring now :(
Re: Going through hoops to get married
@Mirch bahi kaha ho aap?
Re: Going through hoops to get married
Sometimes you jump through hoops and sometimes you jump through hell and remain there.
So, tell us what kind of hell you had to go through to get married? :D

Ah, so you married a Pakistani. Your kids will be...exotic. :DDid you visit Pakistan yet? I have a good friend who is half Japanese and half Pakistani but she grew up in Japan and knows very little to nothing about Pakistan. She looks 100% Japanese but is at least 5" taller than the rest of her friends. :p

Not married, soon to be married. I haven't yet but I've lived all over south asia (one of the countries being indonesia) if that counts? Asian/asian doesn't really change much imo however there are no eurasian kids alike. my sister and I are related and nobody would be able to tell unless we were sitting right next to each other. She's 5'7+ and I'm 5'4 different features etc etc

I really want to salute your MIL who accepted you. Pakistani mothers are USUALLY not very acceptable when their sons marry girls from other nationalities. I know I am generalising here and thats why I mentioned USUALLY in bold.
Re: Going through hoops to get married
why should you salute my MIL? xD she doesn’t know me personally doesn’t know my family (except for their age, name, occupation etc)… I’m still an angel to her as of yet ![]()
my SOs family is well educated upper middle class family and I’m not the first gori in the family. Probably the first Japanese/Australian.
The only problem I would face is when I’m there and be anti-social >_> (as in too shy to talk to anyone)
Re: Going through hoops to get married
@Mirch bahi kaha ho aap?
So my story goes like this.
I was new in US going through the usual grinding of this newly adopted country. Working at a gas station working at a fast food joint , sending money back home etc. I had the best possible education from back home , but that was worthless in US. So I was home sick , poor and depressed , then I saw this girl who was homely , charming and belonged to a decent family, that was love at first sight so I proposed to her family but they rejected. Now I was heart broken too and very miserable.
I pleaded to the family but they will not budge.
Then out of the blue after a few weeks I got phone call from my to be eldest SIL to come over to their home for dinner and they asked to send my family to their family with the proposal back home where their mother was. I did and they accepted.
Now I wanted to know what made them change their mind and found out that my eldest SIL's husband's view of me was that I was very talented and had what it takes to be successful in US and he thought that I had a bright future so based on his judgement of me they accepted the proposal.
His assessment was not wrong though. He became my mentor and best friend. He was very experienced and seasoned man and he had spent lot of time in this country. May Allah rest his soul. Ameen. He is in the heaven now.
There are many other twists and turns in the story but I cannot share everything because of fear of exposure of my identity.
