it was a bit easier for us because home was always UK, and we went back every summer or winter, but yes having a place..your childhood home neighbourhood, and all really helps in maintaining a connection.
it is a strong aspect though, helps in this multicultural world. I still recall being an undergrad and being challenged by someone on why I thought i would know life of avg ppl better in KSA, and i had to inform them that I had spent years of my life there.
Yes, however as we do not have a permanent residence, we just go once every two years or so to visit London. Even though I was born there and lived there for a while I do not feel connected to Tottenham, I feel connected to the Middle East because it is where I spent majority of my life up till now.
It is, similarly in my university which is an American university sometimes I get challenged on matters of the UK and then I tell them about my UK connection. It is useful, having knowledge of many places.
