all i know is that they are very great in number and from a hadeez i conclude that for every 1000 humans there are 999 Gog and magog . As Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) said that on judgement day from every 1000 , 999 will go to hell. The sahabah were scared then Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) said those 999 would be GOG and Magog.
And about the wall no one has an exact theory that can prove a wall but as per islam their arrival is one of the last signs of Qayamat when Hazrat Esa(A.S) is going to be among us.
