I DO NOT MEAN THIS IN A HORRIBLE WAY!

Re: God
Barbie_Girl, I personally do think Allah (SWT) would come and sit next to us or stand behind us. If anything, it is your imagination or could be jinns and Allahu aalim.
I hope someone else can shed some light on this matter. At least according to my beliefs I know that Allah (SWT) is high above the heaven on His (SWT) Throne in a manner that fits His (SWT) Majesty.
Re: God
^ High above? Throne? His Majesty? It sounds like you are describing a physical being in a physical place. Does he also have a long flowing beard and wear robes and a crown?
Of course one can feel the presence of God. I personally believe He is anywhere and everywhere. He is inside of you. He is around you. He encompasses and is a part of everything. He is not in a palace somewhere stroking his beard watching down on his dominion. He isn't even a "He". That implies God is a person. Our minds can't grasp what God is, but surely He isn't sitting around on a chair. Or even a throne.
Re: God
*Here’s the Sunni belief: *
Praise be to Allaah.
It is proven in the Qur’aan and Sunnah and by the consensus (ijmaa’) of the salaf (early generations) of this ummah that Allaah is above His heavens on His Throne, and that He is the Exalted, Most High. He is Above all things, and there is nothing that is above Him. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Allaah it is He Who has created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them in six Days. Then He rose over (Istawaa) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). You (mankind) have none, besides Him, as a Wali (protector or helper) or an intercessor. Will you not then remember (or receive admonition)?”
[al-Sajdah 32:4]
“Surely, your Lord is Allaah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and then rose over (Istawaa) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty), disposing the affair of all things [Yoonus 10:3]
“To Him ascend (all) the goodly words, and the righteous deeds exalt it (i.e. the goodly words are not accepted by Allaah unless and until they are followed by good deeds) [Faatir 35:10]
“He is the First (nothing is before Him) and the Last (nothing is after Him), the Most High (nothing is above Him) and the Most Near (nothing is nearer than Him) [al-Hadeed 57:3]
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “You are the Most High and there is nothing above You…”
There are many similar ayaat and ahaadeeth. But at the same time, Allaah tells us that He is with His slaves wherever they are:
“Have you not seen that Allaah knows whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth? There is no Najwa (secret counsel) of three but He is their fourth (with His Knowledge, while He Himself is over the Throne, over the seventh heaven), — nor of five but He is their sixth (with His Knowledge), — nor of less than that or more but He is with them (with His Knowledge) wheresoever they may be” [al-Mujaadilah 58:7]
Allaah has combined mention of His being above His Throne with mention of His being with His slaves in one aayah, where He says (interpretation of the meaning):
“He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and then rose over (Istawaa) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). He knows what goes into the earth and what comes forth from it, and what descends from the heaven and what ascends thereto. And He is with you (by His Knowledge) wheresoever you may be [al-Hadeed 57:4]
Saying that Allaah is with us does not mean that He is mixed with (or dwells in) His creation; rather He is with His slaves by His knowledge. He is above His Throne and nothing is hidden from Him of what they do. With regard to the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):
“And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge)” [Qaaf 50:16]
- most of the mufassireen said that what is meant is that He is near by means of His angels whose task it is to record people’s deeds. And those who said that it means that He is near explained it as meaning that He is near by His knowledge, as is said concerning how He is with us.
This is the view of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah, who affirm that Allaah is above His creation and that He is also with His slaves, and they state that He is far above dwelling in His created beings. With regard to the denial of all Divine attributes as voiced by the Jahamiyyah and their followers, they deny that His Essence is above His creatures and that He rose above His Throne, and they say that He is present in His Essence everywhere. We ask Allaah to guide the Muslims.

Re: God
Seminole,
That’s paganism…That god is everywhere, in the sun, in the plants, in the garden, in the closet, in the desk, in the computer e.t.c…
That may be your belief…Muslims don’t believe that…
Allah :swt: for Muslims sits in the zenith of the 7 heavens but through His Omnipotent Knowledge is aware of every molecule in His dominion including its function, needs and thoughts…
A concept hard for non-Muslims to grasp however that is our belief…
Christians make up stories to refresh their faith through man made stories like the footprints one (I carried you and the footprints you saw were mine e.t.c…) and attribute things to god which makes him more human like and hence more visual…
Then in their confusion they argue over His gender…
Allah has preferred to be addressed as a He in Islam…If you say He’s a she, you are not talking about the God of Islam…
Re: God
It is not paganism to believe God is everywhere. It is common sense and being more in touch with reality than the literal translations you limit yourself to. How limiting you make God to fit your one dimensional analytical abilities. As if He ‘sits’ anywhere. ![]()
God prefers to be be addresed as He in Islam becauase it was (and is) a male dominated society your scripture addresses. Do you also believe he has a penis? It is you that if you limit it to “He” that you are not talking about “God”, but the God of Islam.
Re: God
Allah :swt: prefers the male title and not because of male dominated societies but becasue He prefers it…End of story…
You can call your god whatever you want Sem…It, she, him, her, his, he…And your god can be wherever you want…Flower, hair, eyes, cats, dogs e.t.c…
Re: God
"My" God is "The" God. I don't pretend there are multiple beings controlling the universe. And I don't for a second believe God is a "man" or even the masculine form of a being.
And God is everywhere. I surely am not going to limit His presence to some far off land as if God has a physical shape limited to that one place. I think the belief that God is not in this world explains why many leave spirituality and the true meaning out of their faith and even though they pay lip service, really aren't all that close to God, concentrating more on rituals, customs and literal interpretations.
Re: God
Ditto.
He is the only reality. All else exist with His command and decree. He is all around us all the time, and knows us better than we even know ourselves.
Re: God
God? No!
I have felt Him notice me only when Im standing on the prayer mat to pray (which is rare but still...) but not otherwise.
Re: God
lajawab, ‘some’ muslims dont believe that (God is everwhere), others do.
I dont think its paganism, and i agree with seminole. IMO, You cant limit God’s existance to a throne above the heavens, as it gives Him a physical being which denies him of his essential God like qualities. If you isolate Him from his qualities, you cant really call him a God can you.
Re: God
Agreeeeeeeeeed
Re: God
Lajawab,
Are you fihgting for the sake of fighting?
Re: God
Yes it is paganism. When you believe God is everywhere, for example lets say He is in a tree you’ve just made that tree a god, and and with that logic you can go ahead and worship that tree. Now tell me, isn’t that paganism?
Re: God
You are so unsure and weak in your belief of God that just admitting that he is everywhere makes you nervous cz your heart is not clear. You feel your heart will start to think of the tree as God and start worshipping the tree instead of God. Is such a weak faith really worth having?
He is all knowing. He knows your nee’at cz He is inside you, inside your heart. So, does that mean it makes your heart a God and worship it instead of God?
What a nonesense!
Mind your language please. Sadiyah
Re: God
I don’t know that it is, but it’s not monotheism. One would have no concept of monotheism if worshipping His creations. Just because He exists everywhere doesn’t mean it’s different Gods. Why would you worship the tree if God were in the fern growing around its roots? Don’t be so literal. My mom is in my heart, my memories, my wallet and in her kitchen. I still only have one mom.
