Secondly, a "male figure" means you are perscribing a gender to Him. His characteristics are in no way exclusively male.
We use "He" and "Him", because religion over time was dominated by men, and so they chose to use gender specific words to describe God. I don't think the terms used to describe God in the Quran are gender specific in the original Arabic, though. Actually Eve was created from Adam's left rib, muslims also believe that. It's the concept of first sin that doesn't exist in Islam.

That's the Christian interpretation of the whole rib thing. It is also seen by many as simply a metaphor, not as a real thing. In other words, she is made of the same molecules, perhaps. Rest of your post has no strong argument. He is a male figure. You can deny it if it maked you feel good. All the words in arabic and all the words in other scripture describe him as a male figure.

Dude, it's a grammar issue within the English language and not a gender issue. If you would call GOD a "her" it would make GOD most certainly a female. And If you'd call GOD an "it", it would be disrespectful. Get the point?
In the Holy Quran, GOD refers to himself in the plural and not the singular form, it doesn't make him more than one entity or does it? (Nausobillah)

what an annoying argument to say that since the pronoun is male, God is a male figure. Ignore all the parts where God explicitly rejects any similarity to His creation, and pick on the pronoun. Well then in several occasions the pronoun ‘We’ is used.. does that mean God is actually a group of men?
The same God that created us in pairs created other species without gender. Others with both genders simultaneously. He is as much their God as He is ours. There is no need to apply attributes of creation to Him.

There was no point. I am not participating in this pointless thread. By definition, God is one, we humans like to associate God with what we can conprehend, hence, we decided to use the masculine pronoun since it's more powerful and dominating. To be honest, I don't care.. It's between you and God so address God however you like.

I just saw this thread.
The discussion was if there is male predominance or let's say predominance of 'maleness' in many areas of life and even in universe. Men in general rule the world more than women and they control relationships etc.
So examples were given and one of them was, even God is regarded in many religions as male figure. (not male nor female or any gender) This was the discussion.
Christianity calls him Father.
Allah, God, Ram, Eshwar, Bhagwan and Devta are 'male figure'. So Arabic, English and other languages, religions, all write or regard him as 'male figure'.
Now to answer plural, that is contradicted from many verses of Quran itself so no one would even think of God ( at least in islam) being more than one even in figurative sense. Literally speaking one should not even think of him as being a male.

In Islam God is neither male nor female, He is beyond human comprehension.
Anything we might imagine God to be is not God because anything we imagine is from our comprehension and Allah Ta'ala is beyond our comprehension.
This idea that God is some man with a flowing white beard is Christian not Islamic.
Allah is not some white bearded old man who played hide and seek with Adam (Genesis 3:9).
In Islam Allah is different from and beyond His creation (humans, space, time etc.) and He is the All-Knowing.
