GOD is Male or Female (!?)

Re: GOD is Male or Female (!?)

Allah (SWT) is not a light … He has given us a metaphor of Him beling like Light Upon Light. Light itself is a creation of Allah (SWT).

라시드](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/members/-and-46972-and-49884-and-46300-.html) has it right it is a grammar issue.

In Arabic language a noun can either be in the masculine gender or the feminine gender. However, it does not end there. The masculine gender contains both genders as well however the feminine gender contains only the feminine. For example a group or men or a group of mixed men and women are the same word in Arabic, however a group of women is a different word. It is like this in every case.

The masculine contains the male and female whereas the feminine contains only the female.

This is also true in genetics … the male has an X and a Y chromosome the Y is the male part however to be a complete human it needs one X. Accordingly the female has two X chromosomes, no male can come from a female, however the female can come from a male. It makes sense that Eve (AS) was made from Adam (AS) as complimented in genetics. Adam (AS) was a prophet of God however Adam was also the creation of God who embodied both male and female in fact he contains all of mankind and in many passages of the Qur’an it refers to Adam as a symbol for the whole of mankind … now let’s move to another topic.

Re: GOD is Male or Female (!?)

"Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things. . (Lit is such a Light) in houses, which Allah hath permitted to be raised to honour; for the celebration, in them, of His name: In them is He glorified in the mornings and in the evenings, (again and again) "

Surah 24: Noor

OK. So why in some onstances, like referring to country or a ship, same language uses ‘her’ as the identifier for these words?

(I had no intention for making it a religious discussion, it was moved here from life section where I discussed male dominance so prevalent)

Let me again clarify, I do not and never have believed God having a gender.

All I talked about people ‘percieving’ God or ‘accepting’ God and ‘referring’ God as “male figure” throughout the centuries and in many many languages and cultures.

Second paragraph you wrote is interesting and for your very kind informstion,

It is said that, female sex in human genome is by default.

Two X, (XX) make a female, and one X of two are considered inactive. (Recently some people don’t think the inactive X is really inactive, but does not matter)

Y chromosome is much smaller than X chromosome in size and number of genes.

Yet, when chromosome combination of XY occurs, the default female chromosome X is overshadowed by little Y chromosome male sex determining gene!

So who is dominant when X and Y come together?

Answer: Y chromosome. The chromosome carrying male gene.

Even though X chromosome is female producing chromosome by default in human, it can be overshadowed by a smaller Y chromosome and in order to be expressed as female person it requires an inactive (admittedly controversial) other X chromosome.

Just to add one more point to original thread and to support, (not agreeing with off course as from beginning) the male dominance, is that there have been or still are religions, cultures which worship male body part or a man.

1- Lingam religion in India.

2- Marra Kanon Shrine in Japan

3- Hounen Fertility Festival, in Japan

4- Greek, Egyptian, and some Budhist followers.

The green part is the parable that the red part is talking about ... A parable is a metaphoric comparison therefore we cannot say Allah is Light in a real sense because Allah is nothing like creation and light is part of creation.

I AGREE

Re: GOD is Male or Female (!?)

sorry to bring this up, aftre so long but I wasnt aware that there had been a thread-split.

Is diwana arguing linguistic structures of Indo-European laguages and their emphasis on the male? Is he really, truly going to start discussing the very deep seated sexism therein? Is that his argument?

What does genome have anything to do with anything? Are you saying that men are better? Are you using something like DNA to back it up? Does he realise that men are pretty obsolete now? That their DNA is no longer imperitive to procreation. It is disposable.

Just wondering

I am further wondering what this has to do with God.

Sexism is reality and I merely pointed out. Not agreed.

Please read what I wrote. a small puny male chromosome dominates on bigger female one. I did not say it. Science did. I merely pointed out.

Men are obsolete? Their DNA is no longer imperative to procreation?

How is it disposable?

Where did you get this idea men are pretty obsolete now?

Total number of men in this world is slightly more than total number of females! (50.3% males versus 49.7% females ) :D

Just like I said above. A large proportion of this world we live in consider God as male figure!

OR

Male figure as God! :)

Again I need to clarify: I am not sexist or 'agreeing' male are better than females as human being.

Re: GOD is Male or Female (!?)

Who gives a flying *. All I know is that he or she will strike down most of you *s for *ing with Islam. That is a certainty.

Re: GOD is Male or Female (!?)

"God is limitless".

I love it :D

to the topic:

also you can dream n make ur own perspective read Quran (specially with translation) so that you may get idea whats the rank of a man is and why it is said to respect a woman.

Women thinking to run the world alone and men thinking to be the strongest is nothing.

Man cant survive his race without a woman and so a woman cant dream of any domination without man.

Now if you call Allah as man figure then I would agree to the explanation what "psyah" gave..

I call this "starry talk". :)

Re: GOD is Male or Female (!?)

Guys please trash your hindu religions in the trash bin and accept Islam. No more of this gender, multiple gods, karmas, dogmas, etc.. it's not a circus, it's your life!
