Me wrong? I am a man woman. I am never wrong. Politically incorrect, always. Wrong never. The quicker you understand that the quicker you shall reach my stature in life.
The world is not full of crap. Its getting there.
You don't have the time yet you are posting here. Go watch your soap opera.

CM, you’ve ruined all the visions I had of NYC. Thanks a lot, now I dont want to visit.
The transport system in Japan is unbelievable - extremely clean, extremely efficient and the trains and busses are always on the dot. The shinkansen (bullet trains) are something else.
Transport system in South Africa is non-existent. Well busses do run, but most people rely on private transport, which is why having a car is so necessary.

There are die hard NYers who've lived here all their lives and would never dream of leaving. Some neighbors of ours as well as a friend of mine are born and bred here and have lived within the same two blocks they grew up in. Grime, dirt, smell...who cares. It's life. True, you can overlook these things if you find so many more positives.
Matsui, I can see that you love the city and it's the place for you. Good, glad you're happy. But I'm ready to leave. 15 years? 5 is enough for us. I've lived in Toronto, Detroit, Chicago and so although I can't compare to Paris, or Tokyo or Karachi, I can only form my opinion of what I've experienced here. Sure NY is a city with many opportunities and is built on the labour of immigrants. And just wondering who you're referring to when you say 'immigrants from desiland'?

NYC is one of the hardest places in the US to live and work if you are not at least upper-middle or lower-upper class. If you're not in those classes and if you work in Manhattan, chances are you don't live there (Matsui is the exception). In Staten Island, you get up at 5:00 in the morning, catch a bus to the ferry, ferry across to Manhattan, and take a subway to work. If you only work a 9 to 5 shift, you reverse the process and get home around 8:00 at night. Now you make and eat dinner and probably have an hour or two to digest and watch TV. Go to bed and start again. Basically, you live 5 days of every week simply to work. That's tough and tiring.
It's no way to live if you ask me. It's a wonder to me how every single person in NYC is not perpetually grouchy and mean living like that.
Given the amount of traffic in Manhattan, you've got to be nuts to expect a bus to run on time in accordance with a schedule. They start out every morning on time and just keep moving along their preordained path in conformity with what the traffic flow permits.
What is amazing is that NYC moves at all rather than being in complete and total gridlock. Yet, it is the financial capital of the world and still has all the incredible things Matsui identifies. I'm glad I'm not a New Yorker but God Bless them all.
It never ceases to startle me that so many people who are essentially short-term visitors to a place focus on all the negatives of that place. When I visit a foreign country or a foreign city, regardless of how smelly, grungy and dank it appears, I always try to discover and experience that country's or city's own unique motion and culture.

guys..guys..we are talking bout NYC here. Not california. And certainly not LA. A wise woman once pondered re; LA, "there nothing in LA that is the best in the world..except hollywood" Talk abut shallow existence, that is LA and to a greater degree SO California.
