It started with what really was a simple compliment to America.
This compliment is heresy on this board and serves to demonstrate the fact a lot of anti-Americanism is a baseless contrivance.
So many here are united in their complete and total opposition to anything American-even a simple gesture to praise those who went to work after the WTC murders. (granted this gesture on the part of Ali-Beta may have been to instigate a bit, but the point made is clear)
Anti-Americans seem to be saying: "You are either with us or against us!"
Sounds familiar.
While America has much to answer for (as do most governments), much of the hatred expressed here is of the uncritical or blind variety. The world
(and the U.S.) is more complex than many seem to be able to grasp. If you want to take America to task over its commercial excesses, environmental issues, support for Israel, please feel free.
But if America receiving a thoughtful expression from a nice fellow from Pakistan elicits your rage, I suspect your thought process (and politics) run quite shallow.
