Re: GM to slash up 31,500
A desperate attempt to convince government that they really need money.
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
But they want it i man looking at the present crunch , here more
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
For sure the want it, there is no argument, even the congress knows the want it, the only thing congress demanded was a plane just to make sure that automakers dont come back in 6 months to ask for more money
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
Gm is facing a hard time like all auto companies right now, but for them to claim that all their woes are due to financial crises is incorrect.
UAW costs were high, products bad in terms of design and relaibility, avg warranty maintenance for GM vehicles is significantly higher than the quality leaders.
the economy just added to their troubles
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
^^ agreed
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
GM needs to start shifting from fuel gusllers to smaller more fuel efficient models like *every thing from japan, lol
they need to work on quality than quantity. they have just released pontiacs 475KW/636BHP 7.2 ltr engine ![]()
20ltr/100KM ![]()
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
Dow too is shaking daily , what 700B did ?
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
^^ thats very famouse in canada, they have sold alot of em, perhaps more than malibu.
that model was just to catter a particular bunch of richies and was succesfull.
but agreed to overall wat u said
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
yeh i know, lol
they to invest in smaller engines with turbo charges, like turbo diesel engines
look at nissans 3.8 ltr V6 .. . . with twin turbo producing 353KW in the new GTR
best engine ever or 230KW 3.5ltr simple V6 in their 350z
i have 3.8 ltr V6 in my GM’s Lumina and it only produces 152KW ![]()
230KW 3.5ltr simple V6 in their 350z (11.7ltr/100KM) or 20MPG
look at nissans 3.8 ltr V6 .. . . with twin turbo producing 353KW in the new GTR
best engine ever (14.5ltr/100KM) or 16.31MPG
and my 152KW V6 from GM does 19MPG:(
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
whats the diff between the engine in 350Z and infiniti G?
Re: GM to slash up 31,500
infiniti G? dont know much about this car, we dont have it here :)
any way infiniti has got 3.7ltr V6 producing 240KW or 330HP with same fuel consumption as 350Z
The only way out is for 3 automakers to go bank corrupt. Top management gets kicked out, UAW contracts voided. Keep the good parts worldwide and shut down the rest.
After 1973, the auto makers got their warning. They knew that oil would have volatile pricing. They could see VW making efficient cars with the Rabbit, Mercedes making efficient but large diesels. Honda had the CVCC stratified charge engine that made the Civic a 45 mpg efficiency and accelerated faster than the "Mustang II".
In 1980 there was another oil shock. Did they learn? No. They kept on making drab cars sharing the same chassis like the Cady, Buick, etc. As soon as the oil prices moderated, they came up with the gas hogs like Expedition, Escalade, etc.
I can not believe how Rick Wagoner had the nerve to collect $28M last year while the company was loosing $Bs. What does he know about cars anyway? Nothing but another MBA from Harvard. Probably could not change the oil of a Vette. UAW is no better... blood sucking, even though they knew for a long time that their contracts would wipe the company.
Time for America to let capitalism sweep these inefficient companies into the dustbin of history.
