I’ve heard great things about it… and was wondering if anyone here knows of a website that sells them? I saw quite a few on Amazon.com (most with really good reviews), but unfortunately the website doesn’t ship them to Canada. ![]()
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels…
if you live in Canada, shoppers drug mart has a great line that has amazing glycolic acid products. Neostrata. if you are new to glycolic acids than start with a cleanser with a a lower concentration of it and move on to stronger peels. my favorite product from the line hands down…skin renewal peel solution…i have had amazing results with it…it will help with congested pores, acne and marks . you can read the reviews here too http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=106036/Skin_Renewal_Peel_Solution/Neostrata/Treatments . Jan Marini is another great line that you might like and there’s a place in Toronto that sells it, you can order it online too. my favorite product from their line is the bioglycolic cleanser http://skinboutique.ca/index.html.
oh and if you are planning to buy it online. www.platinumskincare.com is a great website.
hope that helps. feel free to ask me if you have more questions.

Oh and what percent is better?
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels...
I would recomend Platinumskincare.com. And whatever you do remember to start with a low percentage and follow all directions.
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels…
I order my peels from MUAC Home Chemical Peels, Anti Aging, Acne, Scars | Makeup Artist's Choice – Makeup Artists' Choice. Their customer service is amazing. They ship internationally.
I’ve also used their Argan Oil and Glycolic Body lotion(used this on my fiance too!) and liked both products.
Few “caution” words:
I’ve done 30% and 40% Glycolic peels before. Although they’re considered “mild”…I can see someone easily burning themselves if not paying attention. I’ve also experienced “frosting” from a 40% Salicylic Peel and that recovery was not fun (that frosting was not intentional…I wasn’t paying attention!). Had to go into office with a HUGE burn/scab on my face for almost 2 weeks (although afterwards face looked GREAT…lol).
I still highly recommend you start off with Lactic Acid just to get your skin a bit used to it. BUT if you feel comfortable enough to jump into glycolic…start with 30%. Please be sure to do a “patch” test before applying it all over your face.
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels...
^ she's right about being careful about what concentration you should be using because it can damage/scar/burn your skin. I went to a skincare salon first to get my first glycolic peel. She ended up using a very low concentration and put it on for a lot less time than it's usually used because I have really sensitive skin.
These products aren't very cheap either. It's always good to try it on via salons/ get professional advice before you start using something really strong esp if you have sensitive skin that scars easily.
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels...
You guys are awesome! Thankyou!
I will definitely be placing an order... have yet to decide which website to go with, but I am sure they are all equally reliable. Two of my friends are currently using Glycolic Acid Peel (for acne, pores, scars, etc) and they have been raving and ranting about it NON-STOP. They swear by it, and I do see a HUGE difference in their overall complexion. My skin was doing REALLY well for a long while, but for whatever reason it's been acting up a lot lately; pimples, dullness, pores, you name it! :-( I have been using the skincare lines from Lissage & Vichy, but neither of them has really helped much... so, I've decided to give GAP a try.
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels…
I am not sure since I have never used it myself… but my friends are using 40%, and one them wants to go for a more concentrated one.

Assuming the peel is done carefully and correctly, there is no way NOT to see results. The only way for a peel to go wrong is "user error".
If your friend has been doing 40% Glycolic and feels her skin can handle stronger....she can try 55%.....and then 65%. Once she can handle that....then the next "step" would be TCA peels. But to be honest, personally, I wouldn't do TCA until I'm in my late 30's (if not later). Glycolic peels, and using sunscreen diligently daily should be all that most women need. TCA peels are generally for deep pitted scars or serious skin damage from tanning, deep wrinkles etc. Personally, I wouldn't do a TCA peel unless there's actually a "need" for it.
Good luck with whatever you decide! :)
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels…
I found glycolic too itchy, strangely the TCA is more tolerable to me.. I’m in my twenties but I like the fact it can make such a huge difference in such a short space of time, my skin is literally as soft and smooth as a babys when it’s all done.. A lot of my friends are already into botox and so on but this is perfect skin without the needles and at a fraction of the cost (and without turning your face into something freakish if you get carried away). Obviously not for those who aren’t experienced with peels tho as Paheli pointed out :k:
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels…
I never read up on chemical peels until last night. After reading this thread, I did a bit of googling and youtubing. And boy it is scary! It works n all but the mishaps that I read about and saw on youtube… I’m scared to try it out.
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels...
^Cos ppl get over confident and jump to something too strong.. A mild peel (12.5% is a good starting point for TCA) should be no trouble at all for most ppl then they just need to slowly work up..
The other thing they neglect is the aftercare, they'll not bother with sunscreen then cry when they end up with dark patches even after being told the 'new' skin is more sensitive to the sun..
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels...
Deeba, do you know if it's ok to pregress to 3 layers with a 12% TCA after doing 2 layers once?
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels...
@ BarbieCue, I know... it is pretty scary if you somehow mess up when applying it, but my friends are quite clumsy when it comes to stuff like this and they have been doing okay so far (thankfully). I guess you just have to be a little more careful while dealing any kind of peels.
I will definitely be trying this out. I'll let you guys know how things go. I have decided to go with a lower concentration to start with and then (if needed) work my way up. I have super-sensitive skin to begin with so I'll go with either 20 or 30% solution first and if that doesn't really help then I will go for 40%.
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels…
I have never experimented with any kind of DIY peels, but I don’t think it’ll be that difficult to apply. I guess you just have to be super careful in applying it… and the key is to 1) not over-do it, 2) to ensure that the skin is properly taken care of afterwards.
I had a AHA peel (think that’s what it was, can’t remember) done by my dermatologist about two years or so ago and loved the results… though, had I known that I could’ve achieved the same results with an DIY peel kit, I would’ve certainly opted for the latter.

I read about this on the MakeupAlley boards too. There are people who have "tough" skin and can handle TCA much better than others.
Question: With TCA, what % do you use currently? Do you allow the entire face to "frost"? How long is your "recovery" time?

Bingo! :)
Re: Glycolic Acid Peels...
can someone tell me where to buy it in UAE or i have to buy it online?
should i start with 30% ?
i saw on youtube that some girls having clear skin but still using glycolic peels? why ?
will it burn my skin after first application?
Can they be used on the neck and collarbone area?
Is there a body version? I NEED super smooth skin! I'm thinking about going for the glycolic peel 30 from platinum skincare. I'm a newbie- think this will be alright?
