Midnite, u can get Vitamin E capsules from any pharmacy just prick them and use the oil. No rosewater doesn't expire =) rosewater maintains the ph of u're skin and is a good astringent as well since it's gentle on the skin.
Hi Gina,
My sister is getting married in December, and so we want to start her skincare regimen right away. Her problem is that she needs results right away otherwise she doesn't stick to the regimen. So, that's why I'm here (I'm her older sister) :) She has really weird skin, meaning it acts weird. We had gone to Pakistan recently and she was in the sun ALOT and so she has tanned quite a bit. She wears hijab so her neck is now fairer then her face, like significantly fairer. In one of the posts it said to mix equal quantities of lemon juice with rose water and that will remove the tan. Is that effective? Also, she had really bad acne and was left with scars, not the hole scars, more like dark patches. So, I am going to try the honey/wild turmeric/red sandalwood regimen for that. Also, in your very first post you had 11 points, so for the different regimens for the skin, how often or in what sequence should they be used? The reason I'm asking is because there's point 6 for uneven skin tones (which she has) and point 7 for oily skin (which she has), point 11 for a clear complexion (which she wants), so what order or frequency should these be done? Thanks very much, you have really helped a lot of people :)
Angelica, u may send me a detailed message (PM) me.. I shall ask my dadi for the exact remedy.
Re: ~ Glowing Brides ~
Gina, apparently I can't send PM's till I have 25 posts...lol...
Re: ~ Glowing Brides ~
Gina you a mine of information and I am going to definitely try out some of the masks you suggested. I love all these home made remedies.
Can anyone reccomend any shop bought or branded facial masks that can help give you a clearer complexion. I am UK based and a bit of beauty junkie, currently I use Dermologica Vitamin Radiance mask which I love, leaves my skin so smooth, glowy and kinda plumped/hydrated.
Any other brands or types of masks that you guy's have used that worked for you or you can recommend.
Ariana what is u're skin-type like? Do you want masks out of the kitchen? For store bought ones i'm in LOVE with Garnier's glycolic mask, 8% leaves u're skin visibily clearer! And very smooth (over time)

My skin used to be pretty cool - but nowadays I have these under the skin type bumps - there not spots exactly because they seem to be under the skin.
I have used dermologica anti bac face wash and the cooling mask (as I am at a loss as to what to do about these bumpy spot type thingies)and they tend to disappear but then reappear a few days later. I have sensitive skin with a slightly oily T zone.
I am in the Uk - I will have a look for it in Boots next time I am in. I also use Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish - used to use Eve Lom cleanser - the one you slather on and then wipe off with a muslin cloth and I have to admit that was the best thing ever - however my budget is not quite stretching to that these days.

where can i find it in isb? D.watson?shaheen? where?
can u kindly tell me its full name or something..... i mean if i look it by this "Garnier Glycolic Mask", will i easily find it?
i'll ask for rest of the info. when i buy it :)
Ariana, please consult a derm and get the under-the-skin pimples treated. Could be a short course of antibiotics such as Doxylag (mild) or topical medication. Keep u're skin really clean, how about Neutragena products? Ever tried them?
For u're oily t-zone you can use 2 types of masks:
Multani mitti and rosewater/multani mitti and lemon juice
Besan, rosewater
Use them just on the oily parts of u're face.
wow..what a great thread! i'm new here...although have been lurking for some time..and was just wondering if anyone has a remedy for split ends?! How to stop new split ends from forming and what to do about current ones (besides cutting them of) Also..is there any natural way to make hair thicker?
Thanks..
No remedy for split-ends, keep trimming u're hair every 3-4 weeks. For healthy hair i've given a recipe of oil that u boil with henna leaves and "methi" dana and let it steep for a couple of days..
Reetha and amla paste applied with coconut oil/olive oil will also keep u're hair healthy.

I don't know where I am going to get my hands on Multani Mitti though as I am UK based and I don't think you can get it here (if I am mistaken - maybe someone can point me in the right direction...)
Also the Garnier Mask you mentioned with the 8% glycolic thingie - is it something that is available readily - I have had a look at the Garnier website and googled it to no avail - if you have a link for it then that would be very helpful
thanks for taking the time out to respond - I really appreciate it.
Thanks for the reply Gina but just a couple of quick ques:
Is there a substitute which can be used for henna leaves (for the healthy hair remedy)? I live in Australia and I am quite sure it would be impossible to find henna leaves...
Also, my mother has a few patchy pigmentation spots on her cheeks (as a result of sun exposure) and I was wandering if there are any natural remedies for this? While she regularly applies sunscreen now I was wandering whether there was anything to help the damage which has already been done.
Thankyou!
Ariana, i'm sure there are plenty of Pakistani grocery shops that carry multani mitti =) And the Garnier Mask is easily available in the UAE, their 8% glycolic acid facewash is pretty good too!
princess there's no subsitute for henna leaves, if there's someone coming u can ask them to get u dried henna leaves =)
Yeah ALWAYS wear sunblock! And wear it 20mins prior to stepping-out, for the dark pigmentation there's nothing better than red sandalwood, wild turmeric and lemon juice (enuff to make a paste) even saffron oil on it's own works!
thanks Gina your a star!

HI ariana, on Ginas advice i've got some multani mitti and its made one hell of a difference to my skin. I got it off ebay and its called "fullers earth" if u do a search for it you'll come across quite a few people selling it.
Secondly i notoced u mentioned under the skin bumps, i found i was getting these when i used Liz earles cleanse and polish. i was taken in by all the hype and thopught it would be brilliant, my skin looked good for a couple of days after which i started coming out in these god awful bumps under the surface. once i stopped using it, the spots stopped appearing! good luck

Hi brummiebird - hey - so cool to bump into another brummie on this site... :-)
I thought fuller earth was something else- since finding this thread I have been busy googling a lot of the stuff mentioned on here- apparently you can get fullers earth from most pharmarcies and its particularly good for nappy rash (for all the mum/mum to be's out there). I thought Multani Mitti was just that mitti - unless I am mistaken- I will try ebay for it though.
I thought the bumps under the skin were due to stress or lack of hydration - but I will not use the Liz Earle stuff for a few weeks and see what the results are. I need to drink more water too - which I am slowly increasing day by day.
Re: ~ Glowing Brides ~
Gosh so many brummies LOL, well I have just moved to brum, still finding my way around! This thread is awesome....guys are there any desi grocery stores in brum that would stock these desi things like ubtan, mitti and sandalwood?
Gina I would like to ask you about facial hair. I waxed some sideburns off recently and 2 days after i got a really horrible red rash with bumps...its dried and fallen off now but I want to avoid it in the future. What other method of facial hair removal can I use instead and does it happen every time or was it because I had done it for the first time?
Also I have really rough soles and thick skin under my feet, even though I soak them in water and moisturize them. What Can I do to make the undersoles of my feet softer.
Thanks chick...mwaahz xxx
Re: ~ Glowing Brides ~
Hi All
Im in UK, Slough...You can buy multani mitti from New fashion house in southall so should be available in Birmingham aswell....and its really gd..wen u have it on u can feel the coolness....good luck
Waxing can leave u with tiny red bumps =( u can try a cooling-mask right after waxing preferablly one mixed with rosewater..to close the pores. Shaitani, for very dry heels u can get a foot & heel balm try "du'it" scrub u're feet with a pumice stone during a bath and then slather on the foot balm. Wear loose cotton socks after u apply a thick layer of vaseline at night =)

Theres loads of people selling it and it really is great stuff.
I'm on the look out for the wild turmeric now!!
Gina, can u use normal haldi instead?
