Re: Giving up bread will make you FAT
okay who said that wheat makes you fat in the 1st place. Among all the sources of carbs, wheat is one of the best source. Its one of the few sources which is actually rich is protein as well as well as has many amino acids.
Re: Giving up bread will make you FAT
^ umar, you heard of the gluten free diet?
Re: Giving up bread will make you FAT
^for the purpose of preventing allergy sure but for fatloss or weightloss NOOOO.
it started as a research that people who are allergic to wheat are only infact allergic to gluten found in wheat BUT later fitness experts picked it up claiming it also causes weight gain and the reason they gave was that it was causing bloating. Well of-course it was causing bloating to allergic persons. basically if you are not allergic to gluten then gluten free diet is same as anyother diet minding that you keep caloric intake and carb intake same of the two diets...
As Sara said kabhi khuch to kabhi khuch :(
Re: Giving up bread will make you FAT
people..read the details...
they key sentence is
"switching to a gluten-free diet, which involves replacing gluten products with those using flours made from rice, cornmeal and buckwheat, can lead to weight gain"
you may want to go and read up on glycemic index of whole wheat versus these other sources noted.

Brainless are the people who write seemingly scientific information on junk-net site ( I just made it up like junk mail) without any background knowledge.
Even uneducate are those who post after searching the garbage.......Sorry.
Please look for the multiple sources if something is way off the mark before posting.
Just a friendly advise..don't have a heart attack on this one. :)

Actually, brainless idiots are the ones that cant read... Whatever was said in this article actually makes sense, backed by people who have doctorates in the fields with extensive research models.
I am not in favour of giving up bread (esp wheat based) for a weight loss program, as its counterproductive.

I agree, thanks...
Absolutely, that is why it was posted in the first post to stack up roti/paratha/chapati! ![]()
The article never suggested that and X2 pointed out that above also. ![]()
The article title is wrong too.
“Giving up bread can make you fat”
The article writer brought wrong conclusion from the body of the article!
BTW:
Bread, roti, paratha, all are starchy diet and makes a person keep the weight or gain weight depending on how much it is consumed.
If one wants to lose weight, the person has to cut down bread in any form. Also rice, sugar containing items.
Unless the person is willing to exercise more to burn these calories.

Hi Umar,
According to some articles I have read, almost 30% of the world population has genetic markers that makes them susceptible to developing gluten intolerance. As the article points out, these DNA test kits are readily available in drug stores. So, it is possible that people who are finding out they have these markers are making the choice to go gluten free. I actually took the test last week and waiting for my results.
One reason for why many people have these glunten intolerance dna markers could be the fact that humans have not had wheat in their diet for very long (less than 10,000 years). After all, wheat has to be cultivated and milled; needing agricultural skills that humans developed around 7,000 years ago. In contrast, fruits, nuts, vegetables, lentils, beans and meat etc have probably been in our diet for hundreds of thousands of years. It might be interesting to note that according to some Islamic traditions, the forbidden fruit that got prophet Adam into trouble was wheat.

bob
Re: Giving up bread will make you FAT
i dnt like breads i useed to but not anymoree
umm the roti paratha thing was a joke I added… umm and instead of the name ‘idiot’ calling you can make your point in a polite way too…
as for your theory about starch etc sorry i dont buy that because the moment you go back to carbs, you gain weight. I guess it works differently with everyone.

That's great information.

Re: Giving up bread will make you FAT
Please keep in mind, too much, or too less of anything is bad for you. Have you heard of the radio contestant in Sacramento that drowned herself by consuming too much water for a radio contest?

Chemical free wheat bread is good for you. Not white bread, which is made from wheat flour and often has the bran and germ removed, is bleached using potassium bromate or chlorine dioxide gas to remove any slight yellow color and make its baking properties more predictable, however this makes it less nutritious than other breads. Most of the vitamins inherent in wheat along with germ are removed or destroyed in the bleaching process. Whole wheat bread which contains whole wheat flour, in which these parts are retained and contribute a brownish color.
Have you guys ever heard of the blood type diet? Has anyone ever tried to diet using this strategy?
Re: Giving up bread will make you FAT
I was off of wheat for a year or so due to gluten intolerance. I lost 20 pounds, so this is definitely a lie!

Just to clarify few points here.
1- Celiac disease which is the prime example of gluten sensitivity disease is not so common. Although it may be underdiagnosed to some extent.
2- HLA typing may be good but does not prove anything. Many people with autoimmune disease like celiac disease share these genetic markers. Example Type 1 diabetes, and other auto immune hormone diseases.
3-Mere presence of screening biomarkrkers like antibodies (IgA or IgG) does not mean someone has gluten sisitivity disease. Confirmatory test is biopsy of intestine.
4- There are people who have non-celiac gluten intolerance but no definite scientific proof of it. Many feel better if they do not consume gluten for whatever reason. Not sure if this is psychologically driven.
5- True disease has true consequences and people should be so paranoid of gluten content of their food or be over indulged and spend money on expensive products. Many of these people should have had disease diagnosed by early age.
6- Self diagnosis is not good. Must refer to a qualified doctor for confirmation.
