It’s irrelevant that her husband works here and is paying taxes. The fact of the matter is that she is only on a visitor’s visa and therefore she knows she should not be delivering her baby here. Why is she trying to trick the system? Also, as a GC holder, you can totally sponsor your spouse. You don’t have to be a citizen to do that. During the process, when your status changes, you just alert the immigration authorities of the change in your status.
It’s also my pet peeve when I see people trying to trick the system. At the end of the day, her care would be paid for by our taxpayer money when technically her husband should have brought her here legally first and gotten her health insurance before her delivery.
Anyways my friend told me of someone who did this…Obviously prenatal care would be hard to get because she has no documentation and she’ll have to pay for each doctor’s visit but if she is actually going through labor, the ER will take her in and deliver her baby. They’ll send her a bill and this person that I know of actually negotiated how much they were able to pay. I think in the end, they had to pay around 10K.
I don’t think they’ll try to trick the system. This is just a question they had but I don’t think they’ll do anything illegal. Guy is a doctor and he won’t risk his life/career for anything. They’ll rather have the child where its easier for both of them withouth doing anything wrong.
