Farhat is out of form these days and we have better youngsters sitting on the bench for their turn. I heard that this Salman boy is a very stylish and cool guy. He plays like Yasir does. Singles double here and there and does treat the loose ball well. Patience and skills together can be an asset for new opener. He is also capable of hitting huge shots, as his first class record suggests. In other words, Malik coming on No. 3 means, if one of the opener sticks to the crease with Malik a early partnership can resolve the batting scrumbling that Pak often see, or what India is going through these days.
On the other hand, Veru seems to be still on his honeymoon. Man big mouthed like Akhtar before Asia cup that he will make first double century in this tournament. Unfortunately he has not made 200 even since then uptil yesterday’s game Not a nice way to impress the new bride On a serious note, India should stick with Gangs and Tendie on top and bring the new guys at No. 7. Yuvi also seems to be struggling big time.
Later Salman has proved to be a better choice than Farhat any given day. I think its time to review Farhat’s recent record for last five months and give him rest which he badly needs.
Also see this tread. I don’t think we can get rid of this PARCHI easily.
I've been saying all along, Farhat never has and never will be a successful batsman in any form of the game. Way too rash, no patience and no technique. Worst of all, no common sense.
*To be honest, Farhat seems to be a very lazy individual. He keeps making the same mistakes over and over. He should not have been taken to Australia; Taufeeq Umer should have had that honour. What I think is that Imran Farhat has a big time "parchi" going in his name, and that's about it. People, That Is All.*

I agree. And you are probably right he does have a parchi as I have heard his father in law is a senior official in PCB. The guy isn't on par with competitive international cricket. Seems like he just goes out there like its a galli ka match and hit as many chokas and chakays as he can. If he successful then balle balle, if not oh well.

whatever information you have is wrong. Imran Farhat and Humayun Farhat are nephews of former test player Mohammad Ilyaas who has been at loggerheads with PCB since a while, so you can rule out parchi.
Secondly do not forgoet Farhat's match winning centuries against India and Soutfh Africa last year (albeit at home) but then again how many players perform in australia? I will stick with him for at least one match then decide about trying Yasir Hameed.
^ Sorry, you are wrong. Ilyaas is his father-in-law. Do you have any prove that he doesn’t have good ties with PCB these days. I have heard he is the reason behind Imran’s inclusion in every test series despite of his failures.
Its funny if you google Imran Farhat you will see his father in law’s name everwhere.

*And it's almost the end of 2004. The point is, he is terribly, terribly inconsistent. His body language shows me nothing that would make me select him. Come to bat, make the usual stupid mistake, go back to pavilion; that's what he has been doing for several months now. People, That Is All.*

i agree, he needs to be given a rest because he hasn't had a big score in a while. well neither has yasir hameed.....

yup, Yasir has not hit a century in last 14 matches, tho he scored 39, 41, 47, 48 in those last 14 outings in ODIs and managed 4 50s in last 10 tests.
and Imran Farhat didn't score a century in last 3 test matches, tho he scored 72 and 53 in two separate innings.
Dont bring in Sehwag in this discussion just to make your point. Sehwag is averaging more than 50 and is** No.2 in PWC Test Rating behind ** Dravid. Yes..On current form even Lara,Hayden ,Ponting & Inzi are below him in PWC rating. But if you definition of anyone being in form is that he should make 200 in ODIs then you have a point.
and Yuvi scored a 70 ball 80 in the last match that he played.
I might have recalled the relationship incorrectly but to say that he has parch is unjustified. He is inconsistent yes! There are better choice? Yes maybe. But he has proved that he can succeed at this level and he can do with some consistentcy.
Unforutnately apart from Inzimam and to some extent Shoaib Malik, there arent any pakistani batsmen who are consistently scoring in both forms of game.
