What gave you the impression that the guy did not give his all efforts..

So right now what we are discussing is something that has passed through step one and before or after step 2. And remember that, the step 2 doesnt come just like that. In our societies, it always take some time before someone could end it. And as someone had commented earlier that he may be in luv with someone while on the other side his wife is already compelling him to leave her.. Now if the other woman also doesnt help him, I dont know where would he go!!

You’re either in a relationship and committed to making it work or you’re out the door. The “one foot in, one foot out” means he’ll hold onto the nagging wife until someone “better” comes along. If the relationship is not working out with the wife end it - but the reason for ending the relationship should be because the couple could not make it work and not because he’s “fallen in love”.
