I think the relationship between a person and their parents vs a person and their spouse is different on so many levels that it cannot be compared. You could love each with every fiber of your body, yet the love for each is still so different and complex

LOL! I think its true that in some cases the girls happen to love their parents mostly fathers more than their husbands but when they boys get married their wives are the ones they love the most. It's ok as long as they love their respective spouses too so what if its less than they love their parents.

midnighteyes- this is very well said. And i totally agree with it because like in my sister's case she says she luvs our dad the most and than 2nd comes her husband. But the fact of life is that she lives seperate from us (ofcourse since she is married) and hence without dad around her everyday but she can't imagine to live without her husband. So thats that...:Dand hence there is different luv for everyone.

I think that it may be true to a small extent in that the bond between parent and child goes so very far beyond marriage. There is a biological bond between parent and child. There is nothing that can ever change the fact that the parent is the parent. Husband and wife while its a very close bond - is still break-able. It is not an unbreakable bond is what I'm trying to say. It SHOULD be but its not. Even if a parent "disowns" a child, the child is still their child. Not so with husband/wife. I'm addressing this not as girl/father specifically because I think that this issue is pretty genderless. When a spouse passes on, it can be a heartbreaking thing. But when a parent passes on, its heartbreak PLUS. Its like a part of you has died - I really think that the bioliogical link makes it so. To put it crudely, a parent is NOT replaceable ever. A spouse can be replaced. Kids know this somehow.

^ I agree that the relationship merits a different kind of love, one which is not comparable. I love my father and my husband but its different - with my husband its total trust, intimate and vulnerable at the same time, with my dad i guess the only way to describe it is as unconditional.

Technically that's true, but it sure as hell gets abused alot when **some **husbands and their mothers treat the wife/bahoo like crap.....This is nto as common with girls and their parents in our culture because girls are still heavily viewed as not "theirs" but belonging to their in laws/husbands. If anything, being apart does make the bond between the girl and her parents stronger just b/c of the distance.

i mean i’m confused… i luv my mom, i luv my sister, i luv my dad, i luvvvvvvvvv my sister’s cute cute son, n i luvvvvvvvvvvvvv my fiance so i mean… really really dont know whom i love more :slight_smile: hehe

in my wife's case she loves her mom more than anyone....including me or our daughters.

me on the other hand...I love my wife more than both my mom's. (dont get bad ideas its my step mom) but not more than my daughters.

very true.. to me a person who loves her parents the most is likely to have a lot of respect for my parents .. parents are the biggest gift one can have...
