Girls living alone...

Re: Girls living alone…

Oh man! This was super fun to read :sadiyah:
I didn’t know there was such ignorance and made up stereotypes associated with girls living alone. But then again… the spelling, grammar mistakes, and random Urdu words thrown into an (almost complete) English sentence makes me giggle to myself and explains the reasoning behind it.

So like… Do do boys who live on their own cross their legs differently, and that whole bit too?
And so.. Girls who don’t live on their own are supposed to sit with their legs wide open? I don’t understand this. Perhaps you could draw us a nice diagram explaining?

I didn’t know girls had to live alone to be comfortable in their own skin.

I’m pretty sure, no girl (or guy) want’s to just move out to be “cool”. It’s to become independent and spend their life mooching off of their parents. Not every girl is OK with just living alone not being anything until she gets married and just goes from being a daughter to becoming a wife/ mother.
That pendu desi mentality that girls shouldn’t have freedom/ independence because they’ll be come corrupt was back in the 1960’s.

Not every desi girl wants to be “gori”. Not everyone has a “nice big house” or “measly dumb jobs”. And most importantly, it’s spelled “F-A-I-R”.

For starters, my family isn’t super modern, I’ve never been pregnant, I don’t believe in premarital sex, I am a Muslim Pakistani-American, I have been raised to believe that anything a boy can do a girl can do just as well, and most importantly, I have not done any thing in my life to make my parents doubt or not trust me, Alhumdililla.
I lived alone, not because I wanted to be a “gori” or I had some “wicked agenda.” Not because I wanted to be cool, fit in, or get away from my family. I love my family more than anyone or anything on this earth.. My family lives very comfortably, mA. I moved out, initially, because I could support my self and I didn’t want to be a burden on my parents.
I didn’t have a “measly job” and wasn’t struggling with rent, or anything else. I had enough saved up and could afford to live on my own. Yes, I did take advantage of the location I was in and furthered my career and education.

So now. What is your desi argument to what I’ve stated?
I look forward to reading your assumptions and accusations of my character and my family.
