i don’t want to stretch the kids btw two cultures…and most people on he thread are somwhat hypocrite they all insist their religious identity is more important than their paki identity so they can throw paki identity and just keep the muslim label…while at the same time living in countries: europe, USA, canada…where islam is thought to be a dangerous backward religion…enemy of freedom and fun (read cluccing, dating, porn, money games…)
i think it’s unfair to force one’s kids to grow up in places where kids at school, or freinds in HS will bully them and backbit them because of religious identity:
why do you go to islamic classes, reading namaaz and learning quran, instead of playing with us after school?
why do you wear hijab?
why don’t you go to restaurant? (no halaal meat)
why don’t you stay a canteen and play with us at lunch break (instead og getting to mom home to eat halaal food)
why don’t you eat pork?
why don’t you play money games?
why don’t you go clubbing?
why don’t you drink beer/wine/liquor?

in the end the majority of kids/teenagers will label them as “boring/loosers/no fun” and they’ll feel rejected…unless you adopt the american segregation and live in a all muslim place…and put them in all muslim place

My experience and that of pretty much everyone I know has been the exact opposite. Our non Muslim friends have always respected us for practicing our deen. Our limited practice of it even got some of our non Muslim friends interested in Islam and Alhamdulillah I know many who have converted as well.

Also, in the area where I live, almost every ethnic/cultural group has their own classes/events and what not, so Muslims going to their’s was nothing very different from what a lot of other people did.
