Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
I'm gonna get an earful for this, but I have to say it:
The media really seems to be running with the Hijab angle. That may have been a source of conflict between dad and daughter, but I don't think that's the full story. It was probably apparent to her father that she left the Hijab much earlier.
She ran away from home...and decided to come back to pick up her things. That's rather insolent...who knows what their discussion was like...what was said. I'd rather not know...no, she didn't deserve to die...but going from what her friends are saying (no apparent abuse, just the Hijab issue) she was being a punk. And quite frankly, desi parents just don't know how to handle punks. Not an excuse, just an observation...
Yeah, it's horrible to talk about those who passed away like this, but please...I deal with so many snot nosed kids now that it must be said. That behavior IS NOT okay. Get a job, move out and then decide to rebel against your familial norms. Until then, you're your parent's property. So suck it up...if you want to be more like your friends than your family, then go live with your friends until you want to be back with your family. Don't come back to get "your" things that they bought for you...
Kids in her situation have a choice...they can rebel against their friends or her family. This is how I thought when I was 16, and I haven't changed my mind one bit. I think there's no harm in saying she picked the wrong side. And I just wish her father had the sense and the dignity to be firm and principled...rather than a brute and a thug. Idiot probably didn't even concern himself with his daughter's life beyond her clothing choice, anyway...

Another girl died couple of years ago:

Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
and the outcome of the case was?
there is another very famous case of a sikh girl from BC who was murdered in india(for marrying a poor sikh of her choice in punjab) while her mother was observing her being killed and getting instructions on the phone from her uncle in BC. last update was that canadian police said they have no juridiction to try her mom and uncle bcos murder took place in india. to which reporter clearly showed to the officer (canadian law book/documents) that canada can arrest and charge both of them but she refused to comment on that. girl’s uncle belongs to a rich family and was then the head of gurduwara association in BC. i guess his influence and links got him scott free along with girl’s mom.
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
He was convicted of second degree murder in 2005.. dunno much detail though
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
:k:
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
ps: that sikh man convicted for 16 years ONLY!
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
I looked at the girl's picture...There's more to this than the media or Muslim bashing Muslims would have us believe...
I don't believe it's a mere matter of Hijab...No matter how ignorant a Muslim is, he would never resort to murder for Hijab...
And as with any Muslim family, no one would admit to their daughter carrying an illegitimate child in her womb...They would rather lay the blame on a family dispute or quarrel after killing her for honour...

Lajjo, isnt what you are saying fall under toh-mat?

You are one sick person Lajawab
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
^^
So now we’ve moved on from the hijab issue to her possibly being pregnant. Do you have some xray vision that rest of us don’t. Where are you getting this pregnant info from? Even if she were, it’d be all over the media. Her body most likely was confiscated by police and probably went thru autopsy, you know for court hearings and such. Something like that doesn’t stay hidden.
Ya Allah ![]()
Hyperactive - do you have a personal thaikaa for muslims, that they don’t kill for hijab? We can agree that her choice of clothing may not have been right, but it did not warrant murder. People turn around. She could’ve been guided because you need a lot of that at 16, but instead he kills her.

even if one were to assume that this theory is true, does it make the murder any less wrong?
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
oh God! that just made me sick :hayaa:
Let female choose the way they want to live THEIR OWN life! :hayaa:
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
i’ve seen girls do that. you know what their parents did to them? sent them back to pakistan. not MURDER them. there is no way in hell that aqsa’s father’s actions are justified.
these same girls are hijabi now after living in some gaoon in pakistan. they are back now, attending college, and are friends with some of my friends, and have learnt their lesson.
do you tihnk if their father had killed them they would have learnt their lesson in the last 5 minutes of life they had left?
she’s got a facebook group dedicated to her. there is apicture that a friend of hers posted in that group, a screen shot of her msn nick. clearly her msn nick indicated that she was going to leave her home. move out. if her father cared about his dignity even a tiny bit, he would have cared to check what the hell she is doing on the computer. what she is planning to do. lots of people had left home, when they were teens. they are perfectly fine now. why? because their parents cared enough to keep tabs on them even after they left home. first of it the need to run away from home should never have arisen, if the so called ghairat mand father had any sense of keeping tabs on his daughter. why the hell would he let her take the bus? why would he give her money so she can go to stitches or sirens and buy low cut dresses? why not ask her who the hell her friends are. why not instill in her a sense of pride about her religion and her culture? clearly it seems she wanted to get out of her “constricting” culture and be like the rest. which is understandable for every 16 year old. but that is no excuse for ignoring the signs and in the end murdering her.
the girl is not all to blame. what her father did was horrendous, and he needs to be deported back to his gaoon where he will be supported for his actions, not here. there is no room for such people here.
the issue at hand is not hijab. the issue at hand is how ignorant and intolerable her parents were. and unfortunately living in this same city i see a lot of that. if we as a community don’t curb such actions, the only end result of this would be more stories of murders of girls published in toronto star, and the community ending up getting a bad name.
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
all i can say once again no matter wat the truth is she did not deserve to be killed :k:
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
Khumar, just like others have assumed the worse for the girl, you are assuming too much from her dad's side, how do you know the father or other family members didnt do what you are suggesting.
Lets just stick to what we know, the girl was murdered brutally by the father who should pay for his crime. May Allah pardon the sins of the misguided, for He is most merciful.
Re: Girl Clings to Life in Mississauga Hospital
Lajjo, isnt what you are saying fall under toh-mat?
Probably if I saw a Hijab in the first place...
I didn;t say she did anything, but there is something such as character reading...
Can't you tell a good man from a bad man?

if they had done anything, then why kill? doesn't the family have any sense that killing is not the option?
