Getting married in Karachi, need help please.

Hiii,

So I’m getting married in Karachi. There is so much to do and it’s a little hard getting things done when you’re sitting on the other side of the world! I haven’t done anything yet! From the smallest things from wedding favors to booking a location, nothing has been done. And plus… I’m not sure how it exactly works there but I have been doing a lot of research which has led me to this forum and so I thought, maybe… I would be able to get some help here. So my wedding will take place in the month of August. Apparently, it gets really hot there so I wanted an inside location. Any suggestions on that? Places where I can get my make-up done? Catering? Decor? Invitations? Wedding favors? Photography? Videography? etc. I would really appreciate the help! Oh, and if anyone knows… how much does it usually cost to arrange a fairly elegant wedding in Karachi?
Okay thanks !!! xoxo

Sure, this thread will remain open if you have anything to share or ask about =)
Everyone's really helpful around here!

I know! I've noticed. It's really nice of everyone to help and/or give advice like that. Thanks again! =-)

if you have anyone in the army the services mess is a great place...my nikkah and valeema were there and not only was it affordable but i thought it was great place :)

i used depilex for my nikkah and was not very satisfied but i used sabs for my valeema and went for the smokey eyes nude lips look and i was extremely satisfied ... saba herself did my makeup

my husband used DEMS for the decor and catering ....they gave us a little bit of a discount cuz the guy is my hubby's friend

invitations we got made from pakistan chowk and they were very pretty

photographe/videgraphy used i dont remember the name of the studio but the photographer's name is hussein (i can give you his phone number just let me know if you wanna go with him)

what else...hmmm i designed my valeema outfit myself bought the cloth from rabi center, tariq road...then went around in rabi center checking out various boutiques to check what kind of kaam i wanted on my lehnga....and went with the boutique which had the kaam i liked.... that boutique was instyle sarees and it was also in rabi center

i think this will be helpful for all the brides to be of karachi...i am also getting married at karachi..but though i am not at the other end of world but i do live in isloo..so i am looking for the same info...the good thing is i am done with my bridal dress and other dresses..just now worried about parlour..shoot etc..

Thanks for your reply!

The service mess, it's the first time I heard of it, would you have any pics of the place so I can get an idea of how it looks like? Please and thanks.

I've heard a lot about Sabs, do you know how much it costs to get bridal make-up done?

Dems, hmm... I will look into them.

Pakistani Chowk for the invitations, how much approx do they charge?

For photography, I've had people tell me about Jimmy and Studio 9, which one is better, if you know about them.

Once again, thank you for your input. I appreciate it a lot!

You must feel a little stress free that you have your dresses over with. I haven't done anything! I can't even decide on what color I want to wear. lol. What color is your dress?

As for the salon, everyone has been talking about Sabs, so i'm heading towards them but I've also heard of Bina Khan. Her make-up is very natural looking. I would post the link but I currently don't have enough posts to be able to post a link. But what you can do is...

  1. Go to google.com
  2. Type in Bina Khan Salon and Training
  3. The first link should say "Bina Khan- Salon and Training Facebook
  4. Click that and take a look at her work

Let me know what you think of Bina Khan's work.

Take care!
=-)

I wouldn’t recommend Sab’s, you can read my thread about it http://www.paklinks.com/gs/wedding/380153-our-experience-sabs.html
Oh and she charges 18k for bridal makeup (makeup and hair only, no other services)

I would look into going to Bina Khan, I’ve heard good things about her but make sure you find out upfront that how many brides does she take a day. I would definitely ask any salon I go to about that, these salons are crazy these days.

Good luck

I read your thread and O...M...G... I am so sorry for your experience with Sabs. I don't know why people talk so highly of her then? After reading your thread, I just found the entire experience to be majorly flawed and very disrespectful. You are paying money, it's not free. I don't what they are thinking. Somebody has to put them in place if that's the case.

I will look into Bina Khan, I like her make-up cuz its natural. I'm going to find all the information out, I didn't even think of finding out how many brides she takes a day. Thank you for letting me know, I'm going to put that on my to-do list.

Thanks for the luck! I'll be needing lots of it! =-)

Re: Getting married in Karachi, need help please.

i think the toughest thing being a bride at karachi is selecting a parlour...at islamabd its so easy...as we dont have many options...i was thinking of going to sabs...but now again thinking of allenora and bina khan..

I'm heading more towards Bina Khan.... I contacted her and she replied quickly and was very helpful. I also love the products she uses, I use them myself and I know how they will be on my skin, and I won't get some reaction from them. I think I'll probably be comfortable going there.

Re: Getting married in Karachi, need help please.

Stardust... I didn't really mind that our experience was bad since I was not the bride. Also I just ran around a lot, complained and made sure our bride got her makeup done on time.... I whisked her downstairs to get her dupatta setting done quickly since there were 4 brides ahead of her in line in the bridal makeup room.

But it got me really pissed off... what if I had not been there, she would have probably cried her eyes out like 2 other brides I saw. A bride is supposed to be treated well on her special day, not like some piece of merchandise.

Anyways, I wish you all the best :) stick with Bina Khan, Sab's makeup is too OTT anyways, they layer on too much base..... I admit our bride looked gorgeous but her makeup looked very fake and heavy which I personally didn't like. It should have been more natural, since we told her not to go too heavy.

I can understand. Even if you weren't the bride, you don't want to be running around and complaining making sure things get done, you would rather sit by the bride and give her the support she needs and possibly any opinions she may want from you. Knowing me, I would probably be the bride crying. I don't want that to happen. I completely agree with you about being treated well and not like some merchandise. Anyways, what happened, happened and now you know and let me know too, so thanks!

I will most likely stick to Bina Khan and hopefully, insha'Allah everything will go well. One of my biggest concern is not to look caked up... I really don't want it to look too over done. I understand bridal make-up is a tad heavy, but there is a way to do it... I'll probably have to just guide them if anything.

And.. thank you. I appreciate you telling me about your experience.

Re: Getting married in Karachi, need help please.

Stardust my dress is red...i went for the traditional bride look..as i like brides in red...ya bina khan is good..but than again one of my friend at khi said that she saw a bride of bina whose makeup was not good at all..so as far as i know..it is too hard to decide...and the irony is i cant visit khi in near future..i have asked a friend of mine to visit bina..sabs...and allenora..and i will probably go with her deicion as she is good with makeup..God its so tough..what about photo shoot.

banker7=tearsineyes.. actually was using some other pc so it was already logged in :)

I am going to wear red too. I just have to find the right tone of red for me. I think no matter where one goes, you will have to guide the make-up artist to what you want and you will need to speak up if you want it done right. I agree with you though, it is really tough because you want everything to be perfect, at least I hope.

As for photo shoot, I heard a lot about studio 9 but I checked out there website, and it's not really what I'm looking for. I need to look into Jimmy. Does anyone know of good photographers that don't cost an arm and a leg?

Re: Getting married in Karachi, need help please.

You need to set a budget first and ask around for photographers and such. I am sure you can find someone who is willing to work within your budget.

Of course. I already have a budget set. Thanks, I'm sure I will, just have to find the right photographer. =-)
