Hey everyone,
Im getting married in dec inshAllah. My wedding dates were set keeping in mind when family from abroad could make it and not really my convenience, if you all know what i mean:p At the time of my Nikah, I was supposed to be done with my period a week earlier, but due to excitement/stress/i dont know what, it got delayed and i was bleeding on my Nikah. I dont want that to happen for my rukhsati! I should be done a week prior to the rukhsati, but then again, if it has happened to me once it can happen again! So, when do you think i should begin contraceptives?Ive heard one should take them about 2-3 months in advance. I want to delay my period (till my honeymoon) and then will continue it cuz we arnt planning a baby anytime soon. Also, Ive never taken any hormonal pills, contraceptives etc anything before.
When should I visit the gynecologist? Its awkward speaking to my mom about the whole thing, I can just tell her i need to speak to a gynacologist but i dont wanna tell her that we dont want kids immediately!
No no, Im asking cuz i wanna get my periods regulated! It was quite annoying at the time of my Nikah, just dont want the same thing to happen again thats all...:)
Yes thats exactly what i wanted to know..since i wanna do it to regulate my cycle, and then if it suits me (i hope it does! better skin and no weight gain!!!) then i might continue it...
You would start now. Speak to your doctor about one of the low dose combination pills- they have low amounts of estrogen and progesterone both so your body isn't getting too much of one or the other. If it suits you, you can continue, and if it doesn't, you have time to try another brand/type of bc.
once you've got a couple of cycles under your belt, you can take two packs back to back and delay your period until your honeymoon is over.
^ she needs birth control too, not just to delay her periods.
“Primolut is not used in the United States, but I believe it is a progesterone taken to induce bleeding every month. It is not protective against pregnancy. Bleeding usually happens after you stop the medicine.” http://www.netwellness.org/question.cfm/36507.htm
just thought i'll suggest something..
i understand you want to start the pill but do u want to start it rite now or at the time of your wedding?it can cause side effects like weight gain, acne, breast tenderness/enlargement,mid-cycle bleeding, nausea, vomiting, migraines etc..
i'l tell you what i did...i didnt want kids straight away, and i didnt want to be on my period during my honeymoon..so i took norethisterone( to delay the periods) ..you can start taking the pill at the same time,or if you want take it on the first day of your period just before the wedding..say if you are due in end of november, you can start the pill with that period..or just start the pill on your wedding night..
its all upto you..hope it helps
When do i have to begin noethisterone? I wont begin anything before meeting a gynacologist, but i just want to know (by everyones experiences) whats the best method...princess21 i have exactly the same concern as yours and thus wanna begin :)
But thats gonna be the case even when i stop the birth control right? Side effects such as??
i was on Yasmin for a few years and i didn't have any side effects like weight gain, breakthrough bleeding, or acne, etc. in fact, my skin glowed the entire time. i haven't had problem skin for the past 15 years, but yasmin just made it even better.
however, my cycles were irregular before, and they went back to being irregular once i came off the pill. it took me 11 months to regulate everything but AH the last 3 months i've had my cycles like clockwork, every 33 days. having said that, i also went off the pill mid-pack in my excitement to get off it and i think that might also have contributed to things being so wonky. so if your cycles are irregular now, work a few extra months into your baby-making plans when you are ready to give your body time to adjust back to its regular self.
Hmm..Right...They arnt irregular alhamdolillah, have never had any such issues...but they get irregular whenever im stressed or excited:p e.g. usually before/during exams and at the time of my Nikah...Yasmin is a strong pill? (i wont be taking it without going to a gynecologist, but ill mention it to her cuz ive hearc from others too that they didnt have weight gain etc)
I went to the gyne today and she said i should begin the pill next month, with my cycle, and continue it till my wedding and after that too- that way, ill have fixed dates and end before my wedding too. But what do i do if i wanna change the timings altogether? like, if i want my cycle to begin at the beginning of every month? I asked her that but she said that doing so would just be regulating the cycle/dates, and meanwhile it wont be acting as a contraceptive cuz ill still ovulate :s Im confused now...please help!!!
