How many of you girls learned the driving from you hubbies? My begum has flatly denied learning from me and reasons being “aap DAANTEY bohat hain” She was a ok driver when we were in small town in US but now Toronto is different. I took her driving lessons there but here she has opted to go with some driving school over me
How many of you learned the driving from your spouse? or perhaps from your relatives … father, mother..brothers etc and how was your experience? and if few opted to go with driving school, WHY?
Initially my father and brother both taught me a few times but ultimately my father ended up paying for driving lessons. Not sure if it was the school or me (odds are it was me :)) but it was a huge waste of money.
I learned automatic driving from my friends and man they were cruel! Changing lanes on highway was a task for me and they made me cry with their taanay shaanay.. on the other hand, I learned manual driving from my husband.. he was the best teacher.. he will never let me drive in Karachi (i wonder why) but he has a lot of patience and tahts all it takes!
My father tried to teach me - what a nightmare. To this day when I sit in the car with my dad and drive him somewhere, he's constantly putting his foot on the phantom brake pedal. I get:
dheeray chalao!!
lane mat badlo is tarha se!!
tum zaroorat se ziada jaldi nahin chalarahi ho!!!
(Notice the exclamation marks at the end of each comment)
I took lessons because of the discount on insurance but needed to brush up before the test so my older sister helped me practice. She taught me how to drive, granted she had an ulterior motive - didn't want to play chauffeur for me - but hey it worked.
My hubby is a really good driver. And so am I now :) But he was really too harsh when i started driving. Everytime we went out with me driving ...i ended up crying. But now he's alright. I know i would be just like him if i were in his shoes.
My bf gave me a few lessons.... Whilst i was having lessons from a driving instructor, So he said he will give me some whilst im learnt so help me pass quicker, He would not let me go over 20mph because his excuse was the car would tip over. (erm? huh?LOL) Then one time he kept making me dead nervous whilst on the motorway i stalled about 5times going up a hill nearly backed into a car behind me!!!! i still cringe thinking about it!! Regardless to say i never drove with my bf ever again instead i stuck to my driving instructor which i only stalled on my first lesson with!!
I started with lessons by the dear husband ,but he was cruel…
I switched to a driving school..that was easy.
Even now if I am driving and he is in the passenger seat ,its non stop commentary from him…
“agaay red light aa rahee hai”
“there is a stop sign ahead”
“there is a pedestrian/bicycle ahead”
“you stopped a few inches behind the white line for the red light”
…and so on…
It doesnt bother me much…
If we have to go somewhere together,I let him drive and just enjoy the ride…
I learnt how to perfect the 'emergency stop' when my dad tired teaching me.
I have actually had a total of 9 driving instructors, male and female, manual and automatic.
After number 9 I figured it was me and not them.
I don't tend to listen to instructions given by adults...the irony is amusing as I am a primary school teacher and all I seem to say is ' remember to follow instructions carefully!'.
Learning driving from my dad would be a biggest nightmare, Keeping in mind how much of a short tempered person he is, I wouldnt be surprised if he give me a few tight chapairs while driving :(
So I will prefer spending couple of hundred of quids and not go through the torture of learning by my daddy
my dad owns a driving school - so driving is in our blood. but i think it must have skipped me. i hated to drive. i got my G1 the day after i turned 16, but never went for one lesson and it expired. After school was done, i had to learn in order to get myself to work. So got my G1 again, and my brother and mamoo (who both work for my dad) taught me how to drive. They were easy going. Didnt want my dad to teach me..lol..he only saves his sweetness for the goris. lol.
now that i got my own car, i love to drive! zoom zoom.
she should be better off with the driving school than you.. why u wanna put us (or others) on the road on risk while teaching her?
hehe.. aap daantay bohot hain.... i refused to workout with my hubby by saying the samething.... but driving with him is pretty good... he dont say a word even when i m driving fast..
