Get your act together, Ladies

Re: Get your act together, Ladies

This is about tough love too.

We women have a tendency toward silliness sometimes. We will let ourselves be convinced to be passive, and there are plenty of cultural expectations to support this tendency. And then we wonder why we are in the position we are. Why things don't get better.

Do what you can to take control. This is not an option. It is a requirement. Unless you've tried to improve your situation in a productive manner, I think you have no right to whine and complain. Don't sit around waiting for someone to read your mind, to anticipate your needs.

If you never put yourself first, why should anyone else?

We should not tolerate passivity, victimhood, sacrifice from ourselves or other women. We should not praise it as if it's a positive trait. IT ISN'T.

Sahar jee, tusi chaa gaye hau!

One of the characteristics of freedom in the West is Individual Responsibility. If we instill in our women the importance of one being responsible for the decisions and actions they take in life AND not how to make the man happy, things will fall in place. Women can earn the respect of not just men but other women too if they can get out of the dogmatic "loag kyaa kahaingay". Women must liberate themselves from themselves first.

Can we make this a mandatory reading for other females before posting.

Keep in mind this would be a waste of bandwidth anywhere else on the internet as most of the points made are really common sense, like getting an education. Frankly if you need a stranger on a bulletin board to tell you to get education then you got bigger problems.

Needless to say whatever little bit can help the state of current affairs for desi women will do. However, sadly it might be too little too late for some and the light at the end of the tunnel is a train headed their way.

^Unfortunately there's a lot of stuff that is common sense that goes against cultural expectations, particularly for females. But who are we kidding? Common sense is often lacking for both genders. We all need reminders sometimes, to snap us out of silliness.
