Gerua

Re: Gerua

you mean ‘sapere’? [sapera - singular]

not just in Sindh, gerua robe is showing up in India too, especially in Ajmer.

it’s not about tradition because Muslims have been traditionally using green color robes. the fact of the matter is that a large number of people who visit those graves are non Muslims [majority of whom are Hindus]. **it’s about pleasing them.

did you know that most of the businesses in and around Ajmer graves are owned by Hindus and the chaRhaave ke phool are exclusively grown on exclusive farms/patches and supplied to the visiting customers by Hindus.

another intriguing thing is that these flowers are then resold and taken to different mandirs in the region for chaRhaavaa. i believe they think that these flowers are ‘sacred’ [na’uuzobillah].

also, even the chaadars are recycled inummerable times. it’s a big business and i’m amazed to see how Hindus and Muslims come together in this ‘common’ purpose.

now, you can see why qabar-parasti is so popular in India. [astaGhfirullah].
