**The North German city-state of Bremen has been directed not to allow a Muslim female teacher to teach after she refused to stop wearing a head scarf. The judgement was passed Monday by the superior administrative court in Bremen.

The teacher aspirant, who is a university graduate having majored in German and Religion, had been refused a teacher’s position by the school authorities because she refused to stop wearing her head scarf.**

In their ruling, the judges ruled their decision was taken after careful consideration of the fact that the head scarf constituted an “abstract danger for the education mandate given to the state and also for the peace in school”.

According to the judges, a head scarf constitutes a deliberate and strong expression of a religious conviction.

School children would not have understood this, the judges said.

Muslim school girls could be discouraged as a result of the uncompromising appearance of a female teacher wearing the head scarf from discontinuing the use of their own head scarves.

The superior court also in effect overruled a decision by a lower court which had directed the school authorities to allow the woman to teach.

Germany has a population of some five million Muslims, mainly from Turkey, Morocco and Tunisia.

Do you really understand the context of the judgement.
It is the duty of every society to integrate and function like a homogenous entity. If the school girls insist on wearing the head scarves they would have problems in assimilating with other students in the school. You would prefer them to preserve their jehadi mentality, but that is out of the topic for the present discussion. Then they would form a group among themselves thereby limiting their exposure and feelings for the society that they reside in. They would begin to not like the society that they live in and begin to start having feelings of hatred to the society. To prevent this, and help the students to integrate better with the students, the govt decided to prevent the students to wear something that made their religious affiliations so obvioud. It is not only against Islam. The rule is the same for all communities. In this scenario if you allow a teacher to wear a head scarf wouldnt that lead to a feeling of discrimination between the students and the teachers.

AK btw is it right for the woman to work in an environment wherein there are chances that she might have to see guys. Shouldnt she accompanied by her male relative when she goes to work..

ak 47 nobody is forcing you to immigrate to a country who laws may contradict
your belief . no country can satisfy the demands of every religen including
its own.

Good point. Perhaps it may be best to immigrate for those who are no longer allowed to observe hijaab in the country of their residence.

Anyway, it’s sad to hear that Germany is also passing such laws.

I was born in UK I live in the UK...I Wear my Hijab...aint nobody gona say or do anything to stop me from adhering to the commands of Allah. I aint moving to no place, just cuz some fools think they can tell me what to wear and how to wear it!
They can take away their jobs (they know were they can shove it!), take away my rights, but they'll never take my dignity and most certainly not my love for Allah! I Fear no one but Allah, if Allah tells me to wear Hijab , I shall wear Hijab! if you don't like it. Then that's your problem. But don't expect me to obey your sick twisted rules!
If wearing a simple Hijab on my head breaks the 'rules' of the country…so sue me why don’t u?!!
Wata joke…this is the sick mentality these people have! When are you going to wake up and stop making excuses for them?!Instead of being concerned with the rise in teen pregnancies, abortions, Rapists! , pedophiles!, murderers ..Etc…they are more concerned by little old me with my hijab on!? Yeah and!? What's that got to do with anybody? She can be as religiously convicted as she pleases! She's not forcing anybody else to wear it! All she's there for is to flaming TEACH! If the kids want to ask why she's wearing it then GOOD! Let them ask. So maybe when they grow up they will learn to respect the differences we have in society, and learn that the majority of humans beings living on this earth are not blond and blue eyed and dress exactly the same as them selves…what a sad boring, uninteresting world that'd be!

Rash, your theory suggest that if people have problems assimilating due to their colour they should bleach their skin. If a hat does not cause undue social problems it is difficult to see how a scarf will.
I may also point out that somewhere regarding human rights lawsis the right to practice your religion - i fail to see how a scarf will actually cause physical and mental harm so an objection to it is rather shortsighted.
It is also a very eurocentric approach to suggest that not wearing a scarf is right but wearing one is wrong.
As for when in rome - most western folks when they move abroad build their own schools, import their own teachers, build their own bars and live in nice secluded, walled, guarded compounds...hmmm
I wonder if in Germany they ban nuns from wearing habits, or Jewish folk from wearing skullcaps... or does it depend on the type of roman you are?

what are the parameters of a homogenous society? i believe the Germans attempted to build one in 1939.

Not to mention how homogenous former Yoguslavia was.

I don't support this law, and feel it's unfair.

Unfortunately, it also affect our Sikh brothern, who as usual, will get caught in this.!!

this ruling of court that you support deals with extreemism, rigidness, intollerance, narrow mindedness, whatever name you give it to. This is against the code of Human freedom. Simple is that…

We must develop some courage to stand for what we believe in instead of feeling insecure of ourselves. And an excellent example is “FEAR ALLAH” who is so confident in her faith…:clap:

Masha Allah Sister, I admire this attitude. I know some other Sisters (converts to Islam) who were dismissed from their jobs becuase they refused to take off their hijab.

I wish I was more like you. :slight_smile:

My boss wants me to take off my hijab when I work. I have no choice, if I give up that work, then I won’t get my diploma. :frowning: so I take it off at work and only put it on before I leave. :frowning:

I wish I had your courage. We need more people like you and the other sisters.

It is ridicilous. And what someone remarked about skin colour is so true, why should anybody be offended or feel threatened by a hijab? There are white people who hate foreigners of any type and colour. Nothing can be done about black skin, Chinese/Japanese eyes or the foreign accent. That is such a good point!

And what was that aya or hadith, can't remember, but if you can't live somewhere according to your religion, then it's even fard to leave such a place/country.

I bet in the next century, if qiyamat doesn't take place yet, people will discuss this topic in history classes everywhere and say how ridicilous it was. Just like we learn now about the past when people were blamed of withcraft or the huge fights between protestants and catholics etc. Each era has it's own scapegoat. I guess now it's our turn.

My sister's friend was short listed for the interview of agha khan university medical hospital in karachi she was asked by one of the members of the panel about her scarf and why she wears it and after her admission will she continue wearing it.So she said Yes and she was not selected i dont know whether she failed in the interview for other reasons or for scarf but the point is she was asked about her scarf even in pakistan.

You know what, I am impressed with your courage to. The courage to admit this openly. This shows strength of character. I pray Allah gives you courage you wish for. But I bet, had you not taken of your scarf, Allah might have created another opportunity from some unexpected source.

That system believes in so many other things that a regular Pakistani system will never adopt. This incident is not a surprise for me.

But this does not happen in Pakistan at other places. This is exclusive to Agha Khan Board…
