The war between ISI and geo at the moment is in the favour of the latter. 7 out of 10 members of Pemra have refused to be a part of banning the channel. Two members who belong to PPP have supported the banning though. Does this show the hypocrisy of the party?
This is becoming interesting as the government seems to be on the back of geo and the military on the other side of the fence.
You have Hamid Mir vs ISI as well, and this is not a personal battle either. The PMLN Government has a lot to lose in either case.
I'm more interested to see how the Army and ISI will settle their dispute with Hamid Mir. Will they use Geo as pretext to punish him on long term basis or deal with him individually. But one thing is for sure, if Geo comes out clean and victorious after this self created mess, they'll certainly be more powerful and vocal than ever before. The channel will, in many ways, become the Kingmaker in the country.
Okay seriously this is a step back from all the progress that was made during the fall of Musharraf. This is unacceptable. Freedom of speech means that anybody can say what they want. There are legal consequences for certain but that does not mean you close down a tv station.
It was Musharraf who for the first time allowed private channels to be opened.

I have no way for double like , It was Shaheed Benazir Bhutto who opened the door , CNN was broadcast through STN . Than N$ came into power and private channels issue was postponed till the Traitor Mush time

I don't think banning any channel is appropriate at all. Geo should learn from this and behave in future (so should ARY, Samaa etc). Journalists have become blackmailers thanks to our top so called MATURE politicians. Spreading misinformation against rivals for benefits is shameful and poses bigger threat than other factors. Hopefully strict laws will be made & implement to control the media houses who think they can control the could control the whole country.
Just off the topic. You reminded mewar of 1971. When uncle of phatoo threw arms infront of Indian general, there was parody of song “Zinda to ghazi mar gaiay to shaeed” and some fellow (dil jalla like me) added to that “hathiar dalay to general Niazi” :), the uncle of phattoo.
