Well Saad frankly this is sad and the people responsible for this should be brought to book ..... but then most of this dates back to the problems arising from the events of 1989 and you cannot treat this issue in isolation.

The APDP claims that about 10,000 persons were missing or under enforced disappearances during the past 18 years of violence.

The APDP alleges that more than 10,000 people are missing in Jammu and Kashmir.

The APDP came into being in 1994, after parents of such disappeared people decided to jointly demand information about their missing sons. The association estimates the number of those missing in the state at a staggering 10,000.

It is important to get some basis for such allegations. How do we know it is not 1000 missing or 50000 missing? Inflammatory speeches by leaders only show immaturity but mislead people to violence.

I remember the inflamed masses hearing rumors of 10s of thousands of Bengalis killed and attacked - as the rumors fed rumors, the numbers went up to 3 million by some accounts! Ofcourse noone had any proof for such high numbers but the damage was done.

OK, first of all I am not sure what this thread is about - so if I am misunderstanding the purpose, sorry. Confusion is because the beginning posts talk about massacres of Hindus by invaders but the later posts are talking about missing people from 1990s or so who I think are majority muslims? anyways, both are bad..

Fact is one missing person is one too many. It is utterly shameful that such atrocities and fake encounters occurred in India. Regardless of provocation Indian forces should have exercised better restraint. I am glad to see they are returning to their senses at least in the past year or two. IMO it will take a steady 3 to 5 years for the wounds to heel, assuming no major issues recur.

That said, India has to expect that Pakistan will try their worst to not let thing settle down to peace in Kashmir since nothing going wrong there is a victory for India. De fence and offence must be played

First off, I have quoted Indian sources in the past too...I know how much your bigoted countrymen hate seeing actual facts on the Kashmir conflict in the international & Kashmiri media, so on the rare occasion that an Indian newspaper slips up and allows some actual information to slip through the propaganda machine, I'll quote it.

As for the 8,000 vs 10,000...just so you know, both figures are taken from a 2005 speech by Parvez Imroz in which he estimates that 8-10,000 people have disappeared. In more recent years, Imroz and the APDP have been using the 10,000 figure...presumably because the barbarians in your army see no need to curb their state sanctioned terrorism in Kashmir.

Feel free to continue babbling on a subject that you obviously know nothing about.

These aren't inflammatory speeches being given by political leaders.

The APDP is an NGO dedicated to advocacy on behalf of the families of disappeared persons in Kashmir. The European Parliament and every major international human rights organization seems to consider their research credible.

The Times of London reported that 237,000 had been killed as of October 10, 1947. If you can't accept even the most basic facts, then that's just pathetic

Which i have found no reference to .... but let me give you te full statement from your source only

"Commenting on the Raja's reign of terror, the Times of London observed.
237,000 Muslims were systematically exterminated, unless they escaped to Pakistan along the border by the force of the Dogra State headed by the Maharaja in person

This is what is in the Times reference says ..... if you remove teh areas in blue you get a finality of 237,000 dead. This is how selective reporting of facts is used to paint a picture of genocide.
